Nelson is an excellent host. I had one of his small apartments for almost a month. It was very comfortable. It's a very safe neighborhood right near the US Embassy. It's also only 10 minutes from the center of town by Uber or bus. Really enjoyed my stay there and the hospitality

We tend to stay at Casa Lima in the beginning of our trip because it is close to the airport and family. We had requested an early check in and was told it would be ready but it wasn't. This was not a big deal. They let us store our luggage, change into shorts and we walked around the neighborhood and went out to lunch while waiting. Our room this time was a 2 bedroom apartment. It was on the ground floor with a living room and 2 couches (one a fold out) a kitchenette and 2 bedrooms one with a full size bed and one with 2 twins. Each bedroom had a TV but the picture was pretty bad. There weren't any windows in the bedrooms and the apartment was pretty dark. It worked for us but we would have preferred a 2nd floor adjoining room like we had our first stay. The staff were friendly. We love the garden, turtles and Koi. The breakfast is simple but we always look forward to it. We will be back but will most likely get a an adjoining room next time over the 2 bedroom apartment.

There was a big gap between the nice courtyard in the dining area of the B&B and our appartment behind the edge of the building. There was not even one single window in the whole appartment, only the door. It feels like living in a bunker. The equipment of the kitchen was so poor, not enough dishes and cutlery for 3 people, no coffee maker, not even a table or a chair to sit down. The mattresses in the beds were of bad quality. No lights in the room. After one hour waiting they fixed one lamp at the ceiling at least. No places to keep things in the room, no ventilation in the bathroom and no window of course. A lot of traffic around the house. Breakfast was poor.

Room Tip: Choose a room near the dining area, perhaps they are a little bit better than the one we had.

Wonderful eclectic BnB. Great location in Pavas, close to many shopping spots. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was great and the staff, especially Alex was fabulous, friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the small inner courtyard with the fish pond, aquariums and birds. It is a great value for sure for a short stay in San Jose. We will come back and stay again.

We arrived on an evening flight and left the next morning right after breakfast so we didn’t spend much time here but it was a good value and all the staff were very kind and helpful. The window in our room was broken and didn’t close all the way so we were a little worried about bugs getting in and overall the room was a little dirty with some cobwebs in the corner but fine for a place to sleep after our flight.
