We were not disappointed to have chosen The Alta for 2 nights at each end of our month long trip to Costa Rica. The hotel was an oasis of calm after travelling, beautiful situation, rooms & helpful staff. Highly recommend & would stay here again.

Other than a hangup when we checked in, this property, the service, and the food was all wonderful! I had booked using Trip Advisor, which translated my selection of four people into two beds--this became a problem since the hotel charges per person. However, the problem lay with Trip Advisor, not me, and the night staff man was extremely resistant...

We arrived around 9pm and the staff really could not have been more charming and welcoming. We were shown to our room, and invited to sit on our balcony where we were given a delicious non-alcoholic cocktail. Perfect. The following evening, again late back from a trip, we ordered a drink at the bar and were asked if we wanted...

We stayed at Alta for two nights after a 4 week tour of Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Our requirement of a quiet room and pool, good restaurant and easy access to the city centre/airport were met perfectly. Most of the time we were the only pool/ steam room users. When we did go into the city the Reception staff were...

Trouble in the check in cause the front desk guy (Luis) refused to accept our dog reservation. It was previously agreed by the GM of the hotel that our dog could stay in the wedding night (she is very special for us). The room was big and clean and as anyone could expect, there were roses over the bed but...

An overnight stay following a long flight from Europe. The Check-in was efficient, lovely room and good quality food. We were also joined by the hotel cat who was lovely. The hotel is modern but has character. Its in a quiet area, so you can expect a good nights sleep

After a long flight this is a great hotel to stay for your first night in Costa Rica. We had a great welcome from the staff and the room was clean, well equipped with a large balcony and a great view. The included breakfast was very nice and we would certainly stay here again if we returned to San Jose.

My stay at the Los Altas hotel was exceptional in every way. The hotel is beautiful and service kind and attentive. I stayed in a balcony suite with a lovely sunset and city view. The bed was so comfortable and the pillows soft. I always use the extra blanket and it was so soft, I wished that I could take...

“We enjoyed an upstairs room with outside balcony & stunning views.”

“Our room was the closest to the pool and the restaurant, it was very convenient as we just walk outside the room from the balcony to go to the pool. However, there wasn't 100% privacy as we could see people passing by going to the pool right from our bed. Next time I would choose an upper level room where I can have the curtains wide open and enjoy a more private view. Also you have to be careful and just be sure to lock the doors/windows that lead to the balcony, because of the traffic area.”
