Tierra Mágica is a charming, beautiful and safe place to stay. I had the pleasure of trying a few of the rooms. They were all very clean, spacious and comfortable. The breakfasts were made with love, and to delight. Barbara offered custom suggestions for each day- asking, "how would you like your eggs cooked, what would you like in them," and also served fresh local fruit- bananas, pineapple and strawberries, along with an assortment of lightly toasted breads with butter from the local bakeries. Also, Otto's coffee is not to be missed! I compared with other coffee around town, and others' (even local cafés) just didn't hold up. Another guest said the same- he was traveling the area, and was happy to come back. My hosts were extremely accommodating and flexible, to ensure my comfort and pleasurable stay each day. I definitely felt good there and looked forward to arrival "home" at the end of the day. Since the hosts are high quality people, in the almost 2 weeks I stayed, there were interesting, fun and friendly people coming in and out. Barbara and Otto are easy to talk to and were the catalysts to fast friendships formed here. The rustic, colorful decor is also beautiful. Barbara is a local artist, and her B&B home reflects the local area. Inside is out, outside is in. Book it! You'll be glad you did.

I had the pleasure of spending two nights at Tierra Magica. I had a great room, amazing artwork throughout the property. Barbara and Otto are class act hosts. Do not pass on the breakfast. If I was on death row, Barbara's homemade banana pancakes would be my last meal. Fresh juice, fruit, coffee. Fab. 😁 Location is great. Perfect place to Segway into quiet old town. I am checking back in next week despite there being an array of lodgings in the area. Forget the hotels. This is where you can have a great, secure lodging experience at a more than fair price. As a solo dental tourist from Key West I felt very much at home. It is a wonderful magical place. (Also take a moment to see Barbara's steller paintings. Earth tones and nature embedded.A great gift to bring back home to a loved one)

Beautiful, quiet, homey, and the owners are extremely nice. If you're looking for a lowkey place in Escazu, this is where to go! The breakfast food is more than excellent and the outdoor setting makes it all better, but it isn't included. Still worth it!

What are you waiting for? Book this place already. Otto and Barbara are two of the most wonderful people I've ever known, and easily my favorite people in a week-long stay in a beautiful country filled with friendly people. Their breakfasts are delicious, Barbara's artwork is unique and the friendliness and helpfulness of her and husband seems to have no end. The rooms are immaculate and beautifully designed. Seriously, what are you waiting for?
