SANTA JUANA RURAL MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE LODGE & NATURE RESERVE Created to immerse our guests in an authentic Costa Rica rural mountain experience, Santa Juana Lodge takes you back to a simpler time, far from the stressful life of the modern world. Life in the jungle-covered slopes of the Central Pacific Mountains revolves around an agricultural tradition and the simple adventures of hiking, waterfall swimming, horseback riding, and exploring the nature reserve. This is an exclusive retreat, with beautifully appointed, freestanding cabins along the crest of a hillside ridge, each with panoramic views of the Pacific Mountain Wet Forest against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean spanning the horizon. Santa Juana is staffed by residents of the tiny Pueblo of Santa Juana. You’ll delight in their hospitality, enjoy delicious local food prepared in the traditional ways of the Costa Rican campesinos, and drink deeply of that most elusive commodity in our busy, hectic world — genuine relaxation. SANTA JUANA RURAL MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE TOUR There is no experience quite like the combination of the “magic of nature” and Costa Rica’s authentic rural heritage on this, our highest-rated tour. Greentique Certified Guides take you on an amazing tour of nature, conservation, and rural culture. You’ll hike along lush jungle-shrouded slopes where three rivers are born, then swim in one of the regions most pristine natural pool beneath a mesmerizing waterfall, spot all kinds of fascinating wildlife, fish for tilapia, visit an authentic sugar mill powered by massive oxen, and horseback ride (optional). Then step back in time to enjoy a traditional Campesino-style lunch while enjoying the panoramic vista of Manuel Antonio National Park and the Pacific Ocean that fills the horizon. You’ll also become a vital participant in the Carbon Offset/Native Tree Reforestation Program, adopting your own tree as you help conserve this priceless watershed within Greentique’s Cloudmaker Nature Reserve.

I stayed in Santa Juana Lodge for 3 days and 2 nights, as the time moved on the less I wanted to leave the place. The landscapes are breathtaking, the waterfall, the trails and the animals you can find there are simply amazing, the food is delicious, and the treatment you receive is just excellent! Rooms are neat, clean and super comfortable! As a birdwatcher I highly recommend to visit these place, it has an immense biodiversity of birds species, it's just crazy! It's an excellent option if you want to forget about the rush and stress of the city, there are few places where you can find peace and relaxation like that one you can find here. Thanks for everything, hope to come back soon!

I cannot say enough good things about this place, not only are the views breathtaking and extraordinary, the staff and locals here are what make this place so serene and amazing. Sandra was so welcoming and was so much help with any questions I had, and went above and beyond when it came to hospitality! Not to mention, the local food made here was incredible! I will definitely be coming back here, and highly recommend if you visit Costa Rica, you give this place a visit! -Zach (Dallas, TX)

We stayed in two of the rustic lodges and absolutely enjoyed the knock-your-socks-off views and friendly service of this rustic mountain enclave. We enjoyed the guided hike to the waterfall swimming area and also a cooking class. Amazing stay. Don't forget your bug spray, though!

We just returned from two nights at Santa Juana. It was such a unique experience. We can't wait to go back. We can't say enough about Alan (tour guide extraordinaire), Julia (chef), and Sharron (reception). They welcomed us into their "home" and gave us such a memorable Costa Rican experience. The views from our room were breathtaking. We saw toucans, hummingbirds, and other birds every day. The bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets were the softest I've ever slept on. Julia prepared the most delicious Costa Rican dishes. We loved the cooking class we took with her. Alan picked us up in Quepos and drove us up to Santa Juana. His love for and pride in is his home village were evident. He also took us on the Santa Juana Rural tour where we got to visit a sugar mill, hike, visit a waterfall, and fish for tilapia. So much fun! We wanted our Costa Rican experience to feel authentically Costa Rican and our experience at Santa Juana was exactly that.
