This place was underwhelming forsure. I've stayed in plenty of hostels in CR and this was definitely the worst I've been too and the most expensive. There's not really a common area just a couch with a small tv up high. Plus there was one man/boy there that was aggressive and rude and other posters on hostel world mentioned him passed out in his vomit on the stairs and the hostel owner told us. He was in the area right outside our room with the bright lights all on at almost 1am which shone through our very sheer and non private curtains and got very very aggressive to the point of trying to fight and screaming to the point of waking others when simply asked to turn the one light off even if he left the others off. He definitely had mental issues but it was simply inappropriate that the hostel owner is not dealing with this situation; it ruined our night forsure. There's no kitchen available for use or any fridge available for use. The owner does make you breakfast and will apparently cook any food you bring. But our eggs for breakfast had lots of shells and no salt or pepper. the sink in our bathroom was extremely leaky to the point it sprayed water all over your feet when the water was running; the shower didn't drain and the bathroom smelled and looked mouldy. The bunk was rusty and the house got little ventilation so it stayed hot throughout the night even with the fan provided. The house was rundown looking and not in great condition. His family lives upstairs and he is not available most of the time, but there's a door you can bang on til he comes. I think he's attempting to feed his family on this which I respect but he needs to give this property some TLC. But the owner was very nice and attentive and even gave us a cooler for the ice we bought. He was extremely kind and helpful and the house is right next to the bus stop and he will happily give directions and answer questions about attractions in the surrounding areas. but I would not stay here again and we were happy to be leaving! We wished we could have left after the first night. Wifi is slow/ doesn't work at all. …
The hostel is a little tucked away, which makes it nice and quiet, but with a bus stop feet from the place, getting to Quepos Beach and Manuel Antonio National park is incredibly easy and cheap. The rooms were nice, breakfast was fantastic, and the owner even took the time to show us some of the titi (squirrel monkeys) that are sometimes running around in the trees. Definitely recommended
Owner is a great guy and is always willing to help out in anyway he can. Breakfast are free and pretty awesome. Great location too. Highly recomended. Place js fairly clean, if your really looking for a cleab place then you want a hotel.O and the price is great.
Great hostel. The owner is very nice, helpful and speaks excellent English. You get free breakfast on the balcony and he is a good cook. Comfortable beds for a dorm room, with lots of fans to keep you cool. Very affordable! It is located in a great spot, close to both Quepos and Manuel Antonio, with buses that run from right in front of the hostel. I would recommend it for anyone traveling on a budget.
We stayed in Quepos as a stopover on our way further south, and I'm glad we didn't stay more than a night. The building itself looked closed down or abandoned from the outside. The owner was very accommodating, but when we arrived he (and his girlfriend?) were watching TV in their space which is in the middle of the guest rooms. A bit of an awkward placement. Clearly there could have been cleaning of the floors and bathroom in preparation for the days' guests but that didn't happen (the shower REALLY needed some attention). The beds themselves were clean, so that was a relief. The hostel has no kitchen or fridge, although he did offer to put some of our things in his fridge. It's very hot as not much air moves through this area on the backside of the mountain. Each bed does have a fan though. He was accommodating in our early 5:30am departure which was greatly appreciated. This place may do as a quick stopover, but not if you're looking for somewhere to relax and hang out.…
