Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cute small hotel, run by a very friendly French couple with lots of love. Breakfast (with homemade jam&yoghurt and a fancy fruit cocktail) and dinner were very freshly prepared and were delicious! The steep road to get there is totally worth it! Rooms are perfectly clean.

we had a very nice time at casa del toucan were we stayed for 2 days. The units are very clean and had a nice kitchenette which is something I appreciate. Francis and Rosi are very kind and accommodating and their breakfast is just fantastic. It is a really great value in my opinion. We will definitely be back soon.

Small (7-10? casitas type accommodations), intimate family run casa. Great experience, wonderful family, amazing food (some of the best we had). Includes breakfast. We pre-arranged dinner, which we highly recommend! They went out of their way to make our trip pleasant and easy, even helping us drop-off of our rental car. Very comfortable accommodations, good size, private entrance, separate bedroom & "living" room with kitchenette, and private patio. Wonderful patio and infinity pool with fantastic sunset views. Exceptionally clean and updated. High up in the hills, so 4-wheel drive recommended. Was a little warm for me without AC, but lots of fans. Excellent value.

Casa Del Toucan is the perfect family run hotel in a beautiful location. The views of the sunset from the pool or your private patio are incredible. Michael and Rosie put on a fantastic breakfast every day and also evening meals when prearranged. The breakfast of fruit, yoghurt, eggs any style and pancakes is fantastic. The evening meal when ordered is excellent French cooking. Francis is the perfect host and very helpful.

Francis and Rosie are great hosts. I work on my Spanglish every trip to Costa rica and here I got to work on my Franglish as well! Really awesome facility in the jungle with 5 star chef Michel preparing the best breakfasts and dinners that we have had in Costa Rica. Infinty pool at sunset with a glass of avacado leaf tea... I liked it so much that I just booked a return engagement.

This is such a paradise just outside of Dominical a couple km up a dirt road. We couldn't find a taxt to take us up because a 4x4 was needed so we contacted the host through the tripadvisor app to request a pickup in town and 1.5hrs later we were on this gorgeous property. We opted for the dinner. OMG we had no idea the place was run by a French family with a gourmet chef who made our best meal in Costa Rica. WoW. We got really excited about breakfast! Every single bite of everything was heavenly, from the homemade yogurt, the fresh baked bread, pancakes, fresh whipped cream with berries. It was as if we were in France. We'd return in a heartbeat.

A wonderful property with charming and attentive French hosts. Tucked away at the top of a narrow, steep and winding road is this gem of a property set in a magnificent jungle setting with spectacular views of sunsets, around a beautiful pool. The 3 or 4 casita buildings have comfortable and well appointed rooms in grounds that are immaculately maintained. But the piece de resistance is the magnificent candlelit dinner! Wonderful food cooked by a member of the family and served elegantly in the "hacienda" by the chef's charming wife. The breakfast was spectacular too - european elegance, hospitality and charm amid the luxuriant Costa Rican jungle replete with wildlife. Our favorite spot in all of Costa Rica - a gem!

This is a small, intimate hotel, however it’s big in courtesy, beauty and amazing views. The suite is very nice, clean, with a sitting area with a small refrigerator, sink, granite countertop and small cupboard with some basic utensils. The bedroom has a nice king size bed with a firm mattress. The shower is big, and a sink, situated in the bedroom, the toilet and sink in the living area. The dining area is outdoors with a table and two chairs, the room is very comfortable. There’s also a tv. The hotel also has a marvelous French chef, excellent and very flavorful dinners. Breakfast is included. It has a infinite pool looking out the ocean, you don’t want to miss the sunsets. This is a family business and it’s well kept and maintained, they do everything to make sure you’re comfortable, the only thing I was not expecting was the lack of air conditioning, but they have ceiling fans in every room. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did, we’ll be back for another amazing stay.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights. It’s a lovely spot on a hillside overlooking the ocean. The infinity pool is very nice. The sunsets are spectacular. Don’t be fearful of the steep drive up. It’s paved most of the way. No air con but the fans keep you cool enough. Nice beds and linens. The owners are wonderful people. And the chef exceptional.

This has so far been the highlight of our stay in Costa Rica. It is a bird watching paradise because of its open aspects. It is easy to see many toucans a day. The bungalows are new and finished to European standards. Even the wifi worked. The owners make a real effort to make you feel at home. They also cook up pretty good food and present it perfectly.
