The grounds are well established and very lovely. The beds in the newly renovated rooms are comfortable, and clean. If you are into SUP, this is a great place as the water is flat. But, the ocean is filthy. I was super itchy when I got out. Yuck. There were a few things that really need to be addressed. Most of them very fixable to make this place fantastic. There was some misunderstanding during the check in process that had me frustrated. I had reserved two rooms, the guy said I only had one. He thought I was confusing "room" with "bed" and tried to explain to me, in very slow English, that our room had two beds. Finally, the other person in the front desk explained to him that we DID have two rooms, and to look a the other piece of paper in my folder. He then walked us to the room and began to explain to us the VERY complicated 'security measure' for opening and closing the front door to the room. Even he couldn't get it to work, so he had to move us to a different room. We all elected to go in and out of the room by the patio doors because they were much easier to use. The room was lovely. Nice headboards, comfortable beds. A big desk type thing that ran the entire length of one of the walls. If only there was a chair to sit at the desk. And if only there was a plug to plug in the computer or anything into. The refrigerator was below one side of the desk. The other side of the desk had a hole for the computer cord, yet when I looked below the desk, there wasn't a plug.... at all. We had new towels. But, there was someone's bathing suit liner stuck to one of them. I noticed it AFTER I had used it to shower with. Ew. The coffee maker on the desk couldn't be plugged into the wall outlet that was meant for the eventual TV (?) because the cord was too short. It also was too short to get to the same plug below the desk that refrigerator was plugged into. We had to move it to the stump between the beds to plug it in. You can drink the water everywhere else in Costa Rica, but not at this resort. There are signs in the bathroom saying not to. You have to walk all the way down to the bar/restaurant and fill your containers from there. Thankfully, they had a 1 liter pitcher available. And we brought our big water bottles so we didn't have to make a dozen trips. Great patios. They look out onto the very well established landscaped grounds that are fun to wander around it. Watching the colorful birds in the morning was great. But, for a room that holds 4 people, there are only two chairs. And the table outside needed to be wiped down. And the plant watered. We did both for them. But had to use the brand new white facecloth to clean the outside table. Not sure it will be clean again. The highway is literally 30 feet from the main door to the rooms. We were awaken at 4:30 by a big truck barreling down the highway with their air brakes on. And the beautiful bird song in the morning was drowned out by road noise. The service at the restaurant was horrendous. We had to repeat our order 3 times. In English AND Spanish.....every single time we ate there. Then he had to ask who had what when the food FINALLY came out. Keep in mind that there were 3 rooms of guests in the entire resort. They were NOT busy. We had to ask for refills of water and coffee. And even though we were sitting 2 meters from the bar, we had to get up to flag down the waiter because he was so absorbed in his phone, that he didn't hear us call his name. The food was pretty good. The breakfasts were great. But, we had to tell the waiter to bring out the food as it was ready, because with a table of 5, there was always something that was stone cold when it came out. We sat at the lovely lounge area near the pool both nights were were there. Again, the only group in the restaurant/pool area. Every time we wanted a drink, we had to go find the waiter and have him come over. He was too busy on his phone, watching TV or talking to the cook. There was not one time he took the initiative to check on us to see if we wanted more drinks or more food. Again, our fried fish, and French fries were stone cold when they finally arrived, as were 3 other plates. We saw them sitting in the kitchen window when we ran over to the bathroom. Someone from our party had to tell him the food was ready, and can we please get it delivered? The second night at the pool, we elected to bring our own drinks from our rooms because it was faster, easier, and less frustrating for us. And we didn't order but a few things to eat. Major loss of revenue for the hotel, and the waiter, as we tip more than is on the check. I won't be staying here again. Nor would I recommend it to my friends.

I have so many wonderful things to say about O'Pacifico. Extremely comfortable and tranquil. The staff made me feel like family and were always there to answer questions and provide the best comfort. The food is fresh, local, organic, and beautifully prepared. Very comfortable bed and rooms were quiet for peaceful sleep. Susana, the owner, took extra time to teach me technique and take me on the best SUP adventure through the beautiful Gulf of Nicoya. One of the most tranquil places I’ve ever stayed. At times, I felt like I had my own private beach while relaxing in a hammock or eating a meal overlooking the water. A pure piece of heaven. Pura Vida!

I can’t overstate how much I enjoyed my stay at this beautiful beach hotel. The grounds are simply sublime. The rooms are stylish and well appointed, the food and service at the restaurant is impeccable. The activities are plentiful: kayaking, paddle-boarding, biking and hiking. Most of all, however, is the caliber of care and service you will receive from Richard, Bernie and the rest of the incredible staff. I truly felt personally taken care of by every single one of them amd my stay was one of the most memorable of my innumerable trips all over the world. This little corner of paradise is a well kept secret and I will absolutely be coming back soon to enjoy the true pura vida here :))

My wife and I spent 4 days in this paradisaical place. Some facts : Getting there: it is really simple and fast. Just five minutes away from Playa Naranjo ferry which makes this place very accessible for everyone (no need for a 4x4 car at all)… but at the same time it is located in a area with almost no human development (crazy right?). Facilities: a beautiful boutique hotel that makes you feel at home, with a big pool for adults and for kids too, amazing gardens and trees, private access to the beach and a great dock to walk and relax watching at the sea and mountains of the gulf. Food: the hotel’s restaurant “La Cangreja” offers all types of food all day and most importantly, delicious. Service: Great service from all the hotel’s staff What to do: Access to the “Golfo de Nicoya" one of the hidden gems of Costa Rica's sea escapes, also provided by the hotel, enjoy a SUP or Kayak tour around the islands and solitary small beaches, makes this place almost unreal

When it comes to a few days of disconnection, O’Pacifico can be highly considered as an option. It is a small boutique hotel with large green areas and some activities (By a provider) to do in the calm waters of the Gulf. It is advisable to stay for at least 3 nights since the trip is worth it, you can arrive by ferry and in 5 minutes you will be at the hotel. You can take a domestic flight to Tambor and from there to the hotel it will be about 30 minutes. Among several positive points at the property, I can highly refer to its gastronomy, excellent preparations by the young chef Josue... personalized and pleasant attention from Pamela in the restaurant "La Cangreja". Moreover, if you want to make your event be sure to contact Marvin or Mrs.Susana, who is the owner and always makes sure that all guests find in her property a home away from home. (They even have a beauty care line) Possible Cons. -Check-in process might me confusing, but look up for support is really easy. -Internet connection might be unstable -Ask at front desk for housekeeping service -COVID protocols are in place but can be improved -English spoken receptionist missing
