Pretty seafood restaurant on the lagoon near Puntarenas. Seafood was very fresh a deliciously cooked. Take a short detour from the main higway and find this hidden gen in a little village by mangrove lagoon.
This restaurant offers a wide and international seafood menu although they also have great options of meat and poultry, among others. Food quality is very good and the service is also fine. Fresh fish or lobster are a must if you visit them.
We stayed at this small family owned hotel the night before our Windstar Cruise and loved it! Disclaimer - if you are looking for the Marriott, stay somewhere else (like the Marriott), but if you want a local experience, I highly recommend the Costa del Sol. Our room was clean and comfortable, the staff was very helpful and patient with our poor language skills, Our group of 10 had a delicious dinner at the restaurant. The service there was rather slow, but the food was wonderful. Our group really enjoyed the lounge area on the 2nd floor as a space to relax and enjoy the views. There was a nice breakfast included the following morning and before checking out, we used the pool. This required a short walk down the street to the owners other property. We were a little apprehensive but the pool area was actually very nice. When we asked about getting a transfer to the port to meet our cruise, the owner and his son packed up our luggage and drove us to the port. In short, this was the perfect place to spend an evening before our cruise.…
Stayed for 4 nights after a long tour through Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Costa Rica. We were looking for a tranquil time before continuing our Central American tour. Everything thing about this little gem was wonderful. The owners and their staff were brilliant, nothing was too much for them. Breakfast and dinner was great. Everything was fresh and tasty. The speciality was fish which we had every night. With a comprehensive fish menu and the restaurant signature dish paella nothing could go wrong. Our suite overlooked the lagoon and was beautifully decorated. The beds are so comfortable it has been difficult to leave! We could not recommend this heaven of tranquility too highly.
This place was recommended by our Airbnb and not sure if we caught them on a bad day or what but it was a terrible experience. A party of eight we waited for about 20 minutes before we were greeted by our server. The restaurant was empty except for another table of 2 which were seated after us and we watched get their appetizer before our server came over. Server when he did arrive was rude and unhelpful. Rolled his eyes several times and just acted like it was the last place in the world he wanted to be. Never came back to offer us more drinks and just gave us one bill without asking how we wanted it split. Food itself was ok but very overpriced. Perhaps If we had had better service we wouldn’t have noticed. Will not be back!
