I stayed at Cacao Monkey with my wife and our three your old daughter in early April. It is a great little place, with good service and all the basics plus breakfast! It is not a 5 star hotel and does not profess to be, the name actually includes ‘rustic lodge’ but it is clean, tidy, has awesome customer service and you get a great breakfast everyday. The surroundings are beautiful, you are literally surrounded by forest, lots of wild life and it is very quiet and peaceful, all of that and it is about a 5-10 minute walk from town. Wifi is available in the common area and is pretty good, we were able to stream videos no problems. The staff are very friendly and super helpful. The room was cleaned very well everyday. They also allow use of their restaurant kitchen, so we were able to cook our own meals each night. Finally it is safe and secure and there is a night manager onsite. Considering the price you definitely get more than what you pay for, it is great value for money. Awesome!

this is a nice and friendly place, very helpful staff, very quiet with a beautiful property. We spent half a day there watching monkeys, birds and other wildlife. Very nice restaurant with very good vegetarian options.

We went to Osa for the wildlife and at Cacao Monkeys it was all out there around us. I love the sound of cicadas and things that roar at 4:00 am. I am a country girl, and such sounds make me feel secure and sleepy. We don't hear the cars from the town there at the end of that rutted road, which is really not at all far from the town--it only seems like it. Food, staff, cleanliness, etc, all excellent. I loved the outdoor restaurant/lobby with a view to the jungle, all they need back there is a cornhole set. I loved the 1.5 km mini jungle walking trail right behind the place. I loved pretty much every thing about it except rooms were supposed to have wi-fi included but I think the router might have got wet season jungle rot, as wi-fi only worked in the restaurant.

A very cute rustic lodge in a great location. The food was great. José is a great chef! They helped us find a tour company, were very helpful and exceptionally nice! We even saw monkeys on the trail on the property. Would absolutely recommend!!

Cacao Monkeys is a perfect place to stay inPuerto Jimenez. We stayed ina family bungalow, which was beautiful and very clean with lovely biodegradable toiletries. They really take the environment seriously here and provide lots of helpful info on where to swim and trails to get you ready for the big Corcovado trip. From the gorgeous restaurant we saw a huge troop of Squirrel monkeys, some howlers and Tree Ifuanas and also spotted three Toucans in the neighbouring forest trail. They really helped us by leaving a packed breakfast for us in the fridge so that we could set off on our big Corcovado home at 5 am. Thank you! And having now travel more in Costa Rica, we wanted to say keep up the good work. Corcovado is the real deal. It’s people like you who are protecting it and keeping it that way. What a magnificent place!
