I volunteered at bolita for 2 and a half weeks and it was amazing. The hostel is right in the middle of the jungle and you get into nature’s rhythm straight away with the sunrise hikes. Ronnie made me feel super welcome and comfortable as soon as he picked me up and was always really caring towards volunteers and guests. I had never done anything with naturalism before and it was a great safe environment to start, especially easing into it by starting on hikes and in waterfalls. Everyone should come here it’s one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been.

This is definitely my favorite place in Costa Rica! I always dreamt about living in the forest and this place is like a dream come true: all facilities are fully or partially opened to the forest so you feel like you are a part of it. Every day, I saw some wild animals: parrots, toucans, howler monkeys and capuchin monkeys and even a sloth. Sky full of stars, sounds of animals in the night, sunrise to watch directly from your room, absolutely stunning hiking trails (16km)💚 All facilities are fully equipped and clean and the owners are friendly and helpful. The hostel is clothing optional and, as a woman, I must say it feels really confortable and safe.

It takes a certain type of person to get to a hotel in the middle of a jungle and you will not be disappointed by the guests and volunteers there. Waking up and sleeping in the nature is like magic, the trails are more wild than most places and makes you appreciate the jungle much more. The hostel itself has everything you need, but one should rather prepare and bring enough drinks and food yourself since there is very limited stuff in the hostel and nearby village. The internet is quite slow, as mentioned in the description but if one goes there to surf the web, then you're probably doing something wrong anyways. Highly recommend for an unforgettable experience.

My stay at Bolita was wonderful. The kitchen was clean, the beds were comfy and the people were perfect. It's an impressive thing to wake up to the lively sounds of the jungle and the sunrise upon the gulf and mountains. I definitely reccomend Bolita for everyone but especially for the hikers, nature lovers and naturalists. The trails are beautiful and plenty of them to keep you walking. Bolita is wonderful.
