A 45 minute ride on an unpaved bumpy road from Port Jimenez brings you to El Remanso, a fabulous small "resort in the forest". We stayed in one of the ground floor rooms in the building over looking the pool area with partial ocean view; it was perfect!! Awakened each morning (early!!) by "howler" monkeys in the trees, we enjoyed...

This place opened in the 1990s and is still looking after its guests to a very high standard. There are some rooms overlooking the pool, and some situated more privately away from the main hub of the hotel. We had one of the former, and loved it. There was a superb view over the forest, with the sea in the...

El Remanso, which means "the backwater" is unbelievably great if you like wildlife, are interested in being in a real tropical rainforest on the Pacific coast and want to be pampered and well fed. We are not used to such luxury, but we did take a "standard" room, and that was plenty luxurious. We didn't have views of the ocean...

After a fairly tortuous road journey during which our driver/guide explained much of the set-up at the lodge, we arrived in time for lunch and a welcome drink. Throughout the stay, the food was excellent and portions (for me) were large. The staff always had huge smiles on their faces and were more than happy to help if asked. The...

There is lots of good things to say about El Remanso - everything is to the highest standards.....but make sure you take the time to walk down to the beach, it is very beautiful. We had a deluxe room with a wonderful balcony - we thought it a worthwhile upgrade. The guides were great.....actually all the staff were!

El Remanso is a beautiful boutique lodge in the middle of the jungle. Surrounded by nature, close to secluded wild beaches it is a nature lovers paradise. We stayed in one of their newest luxury villas with private pool, outside and inside shower and amazing views of the jungle where we could observe an abundance of wild live from our...

What a great place, can't fault it at all. We were a family of 4 with 8 and 6 year old and had the most amazing time there. Lots of wildlife and tours to go plus amazing lagoon on the beach. Kids learnt so much from the guides on the guided hikes. Food and service was excellent and everyone was...

This is one of the best hotels and area I have visited. The wildlife is abundant. You can take many excursions with a guide and see wonderful birds and smaller creatures such as frogs and other critters. You can walk on many trails but it is a good idea to get your bearings first with a guide. The trek down...

We've been here three times, and I can't say enough to recommend it. It is an eco-lodge that caters to relatively small groups of people. For people wanting to really experience a facility that it totally committed to sustainability in a way that benefits the people who live here, this is the place to go. Daniel and Adriana are the...

This was our third trip to Costa Rica, a country we love very much. Each time we have stayed in new places. Except that we always return to El Remanso. The howlers are always the loudest and most visible. We have seen numerous toucans and each time we have spotted several pairs of macaws in addition to many other types...
