We stayed here for 4 nights and were in the family apartment. The apt was spacious and comfortable, though it had a strange chemical smell (maybe freshly painted?). We were quite happy with this hotel in the beginning and was very surprised they still had vacancy during high season. We originally booked another hotel via Expedia but that hotel cancelled...

In response to your comment : We are very very upset about this incident and we can assure you that we are working very hard to get to the bottom of this- The staff that works here has been with the hotel for several years and we have never had any incident like this- Usually in a situation like this,...

Friendly staff, close to grocery store, pharmacy, cafes, bus stop, restaurants. Breakfast by the pool every morning, monkeys would stop by in the late afternoon. Very comfortable room, clean, wifi by the pool. This will be my go to place for Manuel Antonio!

The people at the Mandarina were great. This Hotel was in the middle of 5 delightful restaurants and was set on a hill. Helpful, understanding, and fun to talk to hotel staff. They had good ideas of what to do and where to go and very helpful. The breakfasts were good Costa Rican fair and filling. The patio was delightful...

The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was... architecturally interesting??? That's about the nicest I can say about this place. If you have a fetish for stairs, this is the place for you. I've never seen so many stairs in such a small place. Thank goodness they had a pool area so I could stay outside of the...

Thanks for your comments. We have posted several pictures showing that there are many stairs throughout the property as it is the case in most of the Hotels in this area especially the ones at the hill as this is a mountain. This hotel was probably built this way giving the topography of the location. We expect customers to check...

We came to this hotel after reading the reviews of other Guests that posted on Trip Advisor, so we thought it would be an affordable and clean place to sleep while visiting the park. Our room had a mildew smell, but the beds were clean. So we thought...it's OK. But little did we realize how paper thin the walls are...

We are very sorry to hear about this situation. We have had an extraordinary rainy season and humidity is something that we have to deal with in the rainforest. We are using dehumidifiers in the rooms to alleviate this issue and then most guests use the A/C in the room- As for the noise situation ,we expect all the guests...

We stayed here for 2 nights. Nice , beautiful budget hotel which gives you the feeling of resort. Staff was nice. Excellent location on the main road, close to beach and national park. We enjoyed our studio room for two nights: it was clean and comfortable with a strong wi-fi connection. Breakfasts on the patio by the pool were tasty, served by a friendly and attentive staff. The front desk employees were also great, helping with directions, restaurant suggestions, and the loan of an umbrella when it was pouring rain.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Mandarina is a small boutique hotel. It has a history in Manuel Antonio since the early 1990s. It has previously been known as Hotel El Dorado Mojado and Hotel Kekoldi. In 2007, the 12 unit hotel has been given the new name Hotel Mandarina. Mandarina is known as a small orange, like a tangerine, in Costa Rica. Hotel Mandarina is located in Manuel Antonio, just outside the small Pacific coast port town of Quepos. We are at the highest elevation on the main road about halfway between Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. If you choose to drive, you can park your rental car in our secure lot behind the reception building. Manuel Antonio is only 3 1/2 hours by car or bus from San Jose, so long as you take the shortest route. Faster yet is a 20 minute plane ride from San Jose on Nature Air or Sansa Airlines. Quepos and Manuel Antonio are fairly easy to navigate since there are only a few main roads. We are just 3 km away from some of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica with the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park at the end of the main road. A twenty minute walk down the secondary road from the hotel will bring you to a secluded beach. The local bus stops 50 yards from the hotel and brings you to the main beach or Manuel Antonio National Park in 5 minutes. There are several restaurants and cafes within walking distance as well as services like supermarket, bank/ATM, bars, yoga/spa, gym, and souvenir stores among others. ... more   less

“Ask if you need anything. Market across the street along with a pharmacy and bank. Shower could have fit a family of four. Bed was comfy and got the hang of the air conditioner so as not to freeze ourselves. Lots of counter space to set your stuff on and outlets to recharge camera and computers. A frig and safe were provided and a closet with hangers. Lovely.”
