This was my favorite place during our vacation. We stayed in one of the villas and were able to see toucans, howler monkeys and capuchin monkeys from our balcony frequently. Sitting on the balcony and watching the ocean and jungle became my favorite thing to do. The villa was very comfortable and quiet, and the staff were wonderful. The food was also excellent and they even offered room service! There are also lots of great restaurants nearby and the resort has beach access. Tulemar has everything you need to make a great vacation.

Hotel's Favourite
This was our 5th stay at Tulemar and each time has been amazing. Over the years we’ve stayed in a variety of different types of villas and they each offer unique benefits. My favorite part of staying at Tulemar is the wildlife that visits daily. The TuleCafe has excellent food and beverages and it’s nice to be able to eat onsite. Be sure to try the Coconut Margarita! Our concierge was Orlando and he did a great job lining up transportation, dinner reservations, recommendations, etc for us. He stayed in touch throughout our stay and was very attentive, but not overbearing. He’s a great guy and went out of his way to make our 25th wedding anniversary special. Thank you for another wonderful stay!!

I stayed here with my teenage son. Frist of all, I HIGHLY recommend a trip to Costa Rica for a family with teens. As for Tulemar, I was so pleased with the service, especially Jeancarlo who never missed a step! The entire staff was respectful and attentive. The property is fantastic and natural wildlife abounds! The walk to the beach is refreshing and the Beach Path is so fun. While I do agree there needs to be some updates to the bungalows, you're not there to hang out in your room! Linens were fresh and everything was clean and well kept. And the view from our deck was breathtaking. We felt safe, well taken care of and catered to, which, while on vacation is expected. Service was great. The vans arrived in a timely manner and staff was always upbeat and positive. The food was fantastic, we did not have ONE bad meal during our stay. I would highly recommend for those traveling with kids/family, perfect resort. Upon returning, I suspect we'll opt for a villa, a bit more upscale and appropriate for older teens/adults. Overall, a great value and great experience!

I stayed at Tulemar Resort with my husband and was very disappointed with the room, property and service. For the price paid the rooms are very dated and need maintenance. Room photos shown on booking.com are very different from the room we got. The staff definitely needs a training on how to better treat guests. Room is far away from the beach and guests need to take a hotel bus to go to the beach.. the driver was very rude and we had to wait half an hour under a storm to be picked up. The concierge had no idea about the property. He told us the room was 5 minutes walking from the beach and it took more than 30 minutes. Do not recommend staying here. For the price I would rather stay in Arenas del Mar or other boutique hotel in Manuel Antonio

Response from Chris Paul, Revenue Management at Tulemar Resort

Dear future guests, this review is inexplicable to us- so I will do what is possible to mitigate it. All units in Tulemar are individually owned and in different states of update. All are at a quality of the reviews here on Tulemarresort beyond this one. Please read all the other reviews that mention our staff as beyond compare and bare in mind this guest stayed for one night arriving late and leaving early. And our head concierge had very limited time with guest per the guests request. We tell all guests it is generally an 8 minute walk down to the beach, but longer should you choose to walk up. This is the reason we implemented our van service and it runs consistently, but sometimes guests do have to wait a few minutes (not 30).

The minute you cross through the gates, it becomes abundantly clear why Tulemar has been voted the top resort in the world. Everything about Tulemar exceeded our expectations. All of the staff at Tulemar are absolutely wonderful, and go out of their way to make your experience perfect. Our concierge, Alexander, was flat out amazing. He checked in with us frequently, and always made sure we had what we needed. He arranged awesome tables for us at every restaurant we wanted to go to, recommended fabulous places to eat for several of our meals, and always had a taxi waiting for us to take us to restaurants and excursions. We went deep sea fishing one day with the Big Eye Sportfishing Charters (I highly recommend them - we caught 5 sails, 7 tuna, a blue marlin, and a mahi-mahi). We had an early departure scheduled that day, so Alex arranged for breakfast to be delivered to our room for us to take with us to the marina . . . it made what was going to be an incredibly hectic morning very, very smooth. The best thing I can say about Alexander, is that he was always thinking several steps ahead of us. Chris, at the pool and beach bar, made us fabulous cocktail after fabulous cocktail and always greeted us with a big smile. The shuttle drivers within Tulemar were fun, engaging, and always available to take us around the property. The staff down at the beach made sure we had shade, boogie boards, and cocktails whenever they were needed. The property is gorgeous, well-maintained, and loaded with wildlife. We stayed in one of the bungalows, and we saw monkeys, toucans, macaws, iguanas, and sloths every day. In all honesty, we saw as much or more wildlife at Tulemar as we did at Manuel Antonio National Park. The Sloth Walk at Tulemar is a must, and really helps you know how and where to spot sloths. A good pair of binoculars were really helpful for spotting/watching wildlife. I kept mine in my backpack wherever we went, and they were used often. Our bungalow was well-appointed, had a spectacular view, and was perfect for the three of us. It was conveniently located close to the restaurant and pool, which we visited frequently. I could go on and on about Tulemar and our trip to Quepos overall. Of all of the places we have traveled, this was by far and away the best destination and hotel.
