The review below mine sums up my comments quite well! We had a private double room that was literally a bed, 4 walls and an air conditioner. There isn't anywhere to put your stuff, no hooks, etc. Our room had 2 windows and sheer curtains so our room was very bright at night because we couldn't block out the lights....

This was the worst place we've ever stayed at. Rip-Off! 3 nights, a double for 40 USD p/n, just a queen bed and a tiled floor, that was it. No chair, no hooks for towels, no sideboard, no nothing. When leaving the room we were welcomed by an intense smell of ammonia, of which we still don't know where it...

Far from the city and beach, no ac, staff is sketchy, and they are unaware of what is happening at their hostel. We checked in, the rooms were a mess, they hand you sheets to make your own bed. The bed had mold on it. Ew. When we got moved in, the next two girls to check in got their...

I had a local witness (mother - very classy lady) tell me that she saw the cleaning lady steal my shoes and bag, I later know that she stole my shorts also and shirt. i told the owner and he started yelling and intimidating me and the lady that told me. He also tried to twist the story because it...

This hostel is great to spend your time in Manuel Antonio. It's located in the village itself, 5km from the National Park. But the bus-stop (700 colones) is in front of the hostel. I had an private room at the same level as the reception (the level were the wifi works), the room was quite large and clean and has...

A very pleasant hostel, clean and well built. We had a private room with a shared bathroom. The place has a pool and a resident sloth to look at. There are some good restaurants and supermarkets really close by. The downside - it is far from the beach and the national park. You have to take a bus, or a...

We stayed at the Backpackers Manual Antonio for only one night (after a horrible experience on our first night at another local hostel) of our two nights in Manual Antonio and wished we had longer to stay. We chose a private room which was quite clean and large with two circulating fans to keep us cool at night. The bathrooms...

This is a very nice hostel a few hundred metres from the entrance to the national park, and a short walk (~5-10 minutes) to the beach. The older rooms are around a pool and there is also a communal kitchen. A bar/restaurant is also on site. Different owner (I think) but they give hostel guests a discount. I had a...

I stayed four nights at this hostel with two of my kids in April. We enjoyed our stay, the staff was friendly and helpful, as were many of the other travelers we met. They are right on the bus route to the public beach as well as Manuel Antonio National Park. They have a small pool down the hill and...
