Really nice stay at Hotel Moana. Highly recommend the penthouse suite. Ocean view, Jacuzzi tub, showers, plus outdoor shower. Breakfast is included, really nice staff. Breakfast is good, there is a pool and a Cousy available to all as well as some floating suspended mattresses. All around a great place and a great price. Just don’t accidentally lock yourself out of your room while naked it like I did!
I was staying in a low priced option and so there was no view or anything from the room, but it was comfortable and clean. The view from the restaurant is spectacular though and the evening meal was excellent. Don't expect to get much of a buzz from the cocktails though. In general I would have to say the property is looking a little tired, but the location is great as you are far enough away to avoid all the traffic and dust of the town center.
We stayed for 10 days here in one of the canopy rooms and really enjoyed our stay. The owner John was always on hand with recommendations and assistance. Rooms were always clean and everything we needed. The hotel is well located out of the main town so it is peaceful but also quick to get to beaches and cafes etc. The views from the restaurant were the best we found - definitely worth the stay.
We had a wonderful time at Moana Lodge. Be prepared to get a grasp of the Garden of Eden upon arrival. You’ll be surrounded by amazing tropical plants wherever you look. In fact, it should be illegal to have hotel surroundings that are this nice when people come to enjoy stuff outside the hotel. Anyway, we found time to have a great time both in the swimming pool and the jacuzzi. Jon is an amazing host who’ll help you with anything you want, from couriers to surf lessons. Also, Papaya Lounge dinner is amazing, and enjoying the sunset from the porch is just a once-in-a-lifetime experience making it a reason in itself to stay here.
Very solid hotel with friendly folks, very nice clean rooms, brilliant views. We were happy with our choice to stay here. The sunset views and monkeys in the canopy (Capuchins) were everything we hoped for. It was also very quiet. The breakfast each a.m. was served by friendly staff. The reason we gave it 3 stars it that the common areas and aesthetics are a bit off. I'd say only about 1 in 3 outside path lights is working. There are also a lot of metal structures (rails, stairs etc.) with some rusting. The pool was a bit oily and had more than usual debris from the canopy above. If you're interested in having a cold drink, in a quiet resort, on a safe deck with a great view of the sunset, the place is great. We'd stay here again.
