I stayed here a few years ago and saw a good price on Booking.com. I should’ve canceled my reservation upon the experience in reception a very rude clerk at the counter. After checking I loaded up my bags and started walking and he started yelling at me to put the bracelet on my friend my hands were full and I could not and did not want to put my luggage down so I told him I would do it as soon as I got to the room he then was yelling at me the whole way to the room and followed me to make sure we put the bracelet on. Let me tell you do not rent any of the rooms 101 through 106 I got stuck with a think the bullcrap room. It is right by the lockers for the people to use the pool and very noisy dirty and wet. Upon entering the room the bathroom has a lot to be desired it was extremely dirty with black sand in the shower. take a look at the picture with the electrical outlet directly behind the bathroom sink I don’t know what Einstein did that but not only is it dangerous you can’t even plug anything in because the Fossett is in the way. The room was nothing like the one I read it last time crappy old furniture in a very uncomfortable bed. We went out to eat and when we returned our room was wide open even though I locked it the slider door does not lock very well. Our neighbors were outside eating pizza and they told us the kids were messing around in the room. there were a bunch of kids running around out of control with the parents nowhere to be found outside our room opening up all the lockers. We check the room to make sure nothing was missing and thank goodness there wasn’t we had some expensive device is charging in there during our dinner. I will never return to this place even if it’s free. The only good thing I can say is the staff at the breakfast was good and the breakfast was decent. I couldn’t wait to get out of here in the morning. I spent $100 on this room because booking says it was a great deal from the normal 150. I stayed to other places jaco During my stay when was $35 and the other one was $43 and both places were much better than this room. Do not rent room 101 to 106 for anything more than $50…
I have many things to say, but I should start by saying I was oscillating between one and two stars, but, upon reflection, I realize it was my love of the location that made me want to be generous. The rest of my group agrees that it was a difficult and unrelaxing stay. When we first entered our room, it was hot as all get out and, as we began to settle, we found a CONDOM next to our bed. That night, we went to sleep, only to awake early the next morning to loud banging sounds and no power. This meant we had no running water, no AC, no lights, etc. We were told it would be on shortly, so we spent the next 5 hours at the beach, but, when we came back, sweaty and sandy, we still couldn't shower or check in with our parents (given that wifi was also out). I went to the restaurant and asked for water and was told no even when I showed proof I was a guest and offered to pay. We returned for the night and the water and AC were on, so we showered and went to bed. The next morning we awoke to people screaming in the pool and more loud banging, and, as we tried to get ready for the day, our water went out again, so we had to wait until we were at the airport to brush teeth, go to the bathroom, etc. If you plan to spend most of your time out of the room, this is a solid place given its ideal location right on the beach and near AMAZING restaurants. I know others had a fine stay, but that was simply not our experience…
In 2019 I traveled the coast of Costa Rica for 30 days searching for the best city to spend another 30 days in 2020. I rolled the dice, and after much research I chose the "Balcon Del Mar" for my long stay. I hit the "Jack Pot"! It is right on the beach, and downtown is a 5 minute walk away to restaurants, shops and activities. But what really stands out the most was the staff, very friendly and professional. The hotel, the onsite restaurant and the pool were meticulously clean, which demonstrates that the staff takes great pride in serving you, great feeling! I'm leaving in 5 days....but trust me, before leave I will be booking another 30 days for 2021, that's how much I enjoyed my stay from mid January to mid February, Check it out! Purta Vida...... Denis Room 306
You get what you pay for, and they don't pretend to be what they are not. Our room was small but clean, the food was really good, the pool was lovely, and the staff were very nice. And perfect location for the beach!
All employees seems to be like you work for them not them for you as a guest . They don’t say Welcome .. at last . Small and totally basic furniture (bed-1pillow-no blankets ) just an old cover . Air conditioning makes that floor stay dangerously wet all time . Small pool and parking, both things for a lot of rooms. And don’t worry if you are “trying “ to enjoy the sunset , the people in charge of taking beach chairs again to the hotel , is behind you , waiting not in a good way , that you decide to stand up , to take the beach chair , so soon !!! Uncomfortable visit !
This place is just steps from the beach and dozens of restaurants and bars. The front desk is very helpful. This hotel makes a point to be family friendly. Rooms are clean and we had hot water and cold air conditioning.
Very nice hotel, with a great view. It was close enough to restaurants and bars that made finding food and drink very easy. Didn't spend much time in the rooms since we were outside a lot, but the rooms were very nice.
Horrible place! I don't know how it got 3 stars hotel. We switch rooms 5 times and nothing seemed to work. Summary of what happend: Room toilet was not working, no hot water, AC was not working and last room we got was full of ants flying around. I had to call the owner in order to get a refund back because they were refusing to pay us back. The only good thing about this place was getting our refund back. For a $100 the night this place was not worth it. I ended up staying at Oceano Boutique Hotel & Gallery for $130.
I have to agree with others that the photos are not an accurate representation of the hotel. Old and dingy, no elevator even for the suites. They are building one now, but it feels like the scene from summer rental with all the construction and traffic. My room was only cleaned once during my 4 night stay. I was woken up around 9:30am by housekeeping each day, I let the desk know when I left so that the room could be cleaned, but never it was. Little to no hot water, terrible soaps and shampoos. They have the smallest, roughest towels I’ve ever used, like sub Motel 6 quality. Room was warm during the day, but it did get cool at night. Safe keypad was broken, so I had to carry around and keep up with a key all day if I wanted to keep my valuables locked up. Insulation showing through the wall where the split unit AC was installed. Door stop hardware(shaped, sharp edged, sheet metal) bracket screwed to the floor. Scraped my foot on it several times, no cut luckily, I wasn’t interested in getting a tetanus shot in CR. Location on the beach is great, excellent view from my suite, floor to ceiling windows across one entire wall and above the jacuzzi. Staff was mostly helpful, (other than housekeeping) they did have security on the street at night. Security was stationed directly in front of the hotel, which is good, but there is a very sketchy alley leading from the main drag that you have to travel down to get to the hotel. Price was good, but I wouldn’t stay here again. Lots of better options if you are looking for family friendly, which is what they are going for but not sure they quite get there.…
My husband and I booked a room in this room based on the website photos, but we were so disappointed! It was nothing like the photos we saw online. This hotel is small, outdated, and old. It claims to have parking, but it is very limited and right on the street with little to no security. My husband was very worried about leaving our car out there. Our room was tiny, dark, and uncomfortable. The bathroom was so small and there was only a trickle of lukewarm water in the shower. No amenities nor hairdryer as it was offered. The room had two twin beds instead of a full size or queen bed. The bed were so uncomfortable and squeaky. The walls were dirty and the towels were old and dingy. The staff at the counter were very indifferent and rude, not a smile or a welcoming word given. There is no elevator and this hotel has 5 floors. I have mobility issues and the steps and entrance to the pool were difficult to negotiate. The pool was too small for the amount of people. Kids screaming and loud music at all hours made it difficult to rest. Everything was very run-down.The redeeming factor was the Peruvian restaurant that prepared very tasty dishes and had great service, as well as fair prices. We could see the waves from our table. Other than that, it is not worth returning. We would never have booked this hotel if we had known how it truly was. I don't recommend this hotel.…
