This lodge and cabins are extremely comfortable and clean, with three meals a day, a pool, and excellent guides and field trips abailable. The creek and grounds are wonderful. Memorable night walk and Birding trip by boat among the mangroves and up the estuary.

Thanks, Robert, for your kind words. We are glad you enjoyed your stay in the rainforest. And you are right: the night walk and our boat trips are a highlight. Please recommend Esquinas to friends who may be coming to Costa Rica! Regards to beautiful Oregon, Michael Schnitzler

Surrounded by beautiful rain forest with animals and birds. Lots of option for guided walks and rides or just head out yourself on one of the well marked trails. We were able to sit at the breakfast table and see a range birds and animals enjoying food provided on the other side of a lily pond. Food good and cabins...

4 nights here and The location photograph on the Lodge's website shows clearly your immediate surroundings and as the windows of your accommodation contain no glass (first class anti insect etc. netting) the sounds around are to be heard 24/7 - you are a part of that delightful environment. FOOD - Meal times are primarily set and all cooked food...

I second all the positive comments about this unique jungle hideaway, established, amazingly, by an Austrian violinist and the University of Vienna. We arrived two minutes before a three-hour tropical downpour. When the power failed candles were brought out, and work in the kitchen went on. Everyone cheered when the lights came back after a couple of hours, but we...

Thanks for your kind comments. I am the Austrian violinist and owner of Esquinas Lodge whom you mentioned, and it is always nice to hear from guests who seem to understand our concept. We see Esquinas as an ecolodge that is there to protect the environment and provide employment to the local people. Due to our isolated situation and our...

This secluded lodge offers all you can want in the jungle: Virgin rainforest with trails you can hike alone or guided by one of the lodges guides, a rich world of birds, frogs and reptiles like snakes and caimans. You can watch caimans and waterbirds for example at he laguna from a plattform in the middle of the artificial sea....

This lodge is rather special, the staff could not be more helpful. Meal were great and the wildlife is simply amazing. Put it on your list of places to go, and make sure you take a good camera because you will need it.

We visited as part of an Exodus tour of Costa Rica and I had already earmarked this place as somewhere that looked like it would be a favourite. And it delivered! It's such a special place. We stayed in the jungle villa and I would recommend this to people who want to be close to nature and who aren't afraid...

Very pleasant lodges, with nice verandahs to sit out. Excellent central area too, serving good food. The walks were good, including the night walk (best for seeing frogs and snakes), and the commitment to responsible environmental stewardship was good to see. Plenty of birds and lizards around during the day. Staff very friendly and committed

The setting and commitment to environmental stewardship make this a great place for a few days' stay. Food is uniformly excellent, and pays homage to great "tico" ingredients. The trails through the forest are a great opportunity to view birds and wildlife, and staff are helpful and attentive.

A nice lodge in a lovely location. Best thing was the spring fed pool which was cool and refreshing with no chemicals in it. The guide on the bird tour and night walk was very good too, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I loved seeing the row of bats behind the bar, you can only tell they are real when they move...

“I loved my cabin, which joined one other, at the top of the cabin area, adjacent to the jungle. I watched two Toucans feeding and courting directly above my cabin. Looking out my door or from my porch I watched the sunrise over the main lodge and tall trees.”
