We picked this hotel mainly because of its location, near to the boat dock and in the town centre, as we were only staying 2 nights and wanted to cram in as much as possible this was ideal. The hotel rooms are very basic but clean, no air con - we only had fans but as we planned

This hotel was perfect for our stay. It is clean and tidy and has everything you need. It is basic, but is also good value for money. The morning river trip is brilliant, just ask the reception about it and they also have 3 kayaks that you can use for free at anytime which I love

We kept going back and forth between staying at an all-inclusive or staying at Casa Marbella. In the end I think we made the right choice going with Casa Marbella. It's a fairly basic hotel but it was safe, clean, and had everything we needed. The staff were friendly. We real

Casa Marbella is in a good location in the middle of town and was fairly basic, but had everything you needed. We took the canoe out for free which was fun and we had a good boat tour with Victor in the morning. Unfortunately Victor seemed to have got drunk/high prior to our nigh

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Marbella. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. There's a really lovely common area along the waterfront with a shared fridge and comfy chairs for relaxing. Breakfast is included but make sure you alert the hotel ahead of time to any dietary

Hi Daryl Thank you for the reply. I have been looking at flights. I think I can get to you on or around Weds 16 August, departing on or around Saturday 19th August (or possibly Sunday 20th) Are there any double rooms available for 1 person any chance? I would love to see the turtles. Is it a good time to see them? I understand you organise tours. Is this OK? Are there any other wildlife tours I can do while I’m in Tortuguero? Finally if I can get to Tortuguero is it possible to be met at the airport? Sorry to ask so many questions – it’s a long and complicated trip and I’ve got to make sure it all fits!! Regards Adam
Hi Yamilette Thank you so much for your email. I would love to visit Tortuguero and stay with you. I’m trying to organise my trip to take in Costa Rica, Panama and Cuba and have to be in certain places on certain days. It’s proving quite difficult so it would be unfair for me to make a booking now. It’s probably best to do so if/when I can confirm flights to/from Tortuguero and then on the Panama. If I can get to you in time I’ll drop you another email to see if you have any rooms left. Thank you Adam
Hi Adam. No problem! You should keep in mind that flights to Tortuguero only come and go through San Jose. If you need any help with fitting Tortuguero into your itinerary please don't hesitate to write to us directly. Warm regards, Daryl

Hiya Daryl I’m planning a trip to Coast Rica later this year, probably late August. I would love to visit Tortuguero to see the turtles and your hotel has been recommended. I was wondering what room availability you have around late August and the approximate cost. I would like a double room for one guest. Many thanks Adam
Hi Adam Late August is a great time to visit if you want to see turtles. The peak of the Green Sea Turtle nesting season is the third week of August. If you come towards the end of the month (or even in early September) you will still have an excellent chance to observe them and there will be fewer tourists in late summer. We have a variety of rooms (no two are alike) and only two of them face the "road" (there are no cars in Tortuguero). Some face into the property and others face the river. Rooms are very affordable and fairly priced according to their size and the view. Our most economical rooms start at a very reasonable $35 per night including taxes (single ocupancy). We do not charge for coffee, tea and the full breakfast served between 7:00-10:00 every day. Most people spend the vast majority of their time wildlife watching in the national park (which is practically next door), exploring the village and the attractions in the surrounding area, or sitting on our large covered deck overlooking the river relaxing, sharing photos with their friends and family using our wireless internet, watching birds or just observing the boats going by. Our guests tend to spend very little time in their rooms so if you want a clean, comfortable and affordable place to stay as a base for your explorations in the area I would recommend one of the more economical rooms. I see you have already written to us directly. We will be sending you all kinds of details about our accommodations, how to get to Tortuguero and what activities you might like to try. We have friendly, highly-experienced, licensed guides who would be delighted to show you the natural marvels that make Tortuguero a must-visit destination in any nature-lover's Costa Rica itinerary. Thanks for considering us for your stay. I am confident that you will be very well looked after and will take away some great memories from this little corner in paradise. Warm regards Daryl Loth Owner

Hi there, I would like to book a stay at your location, but your website appears to be down so if you could send me a message that would be great! Thanks for your time.
Hello Your request arrived to me via TripAdvisor system, but I am just a satisfied customer, not the owner of Casa Marbella You may want to send direct e-mail to Daryl (look at Casa Marbella website for his e-mail, the system does not allow me to include e-mail addresses in my post) He is the owner and a great guy. All the best Amnon

Hi, We are very interested to stay at Casa Marbella from the 18th of december till the 20th. However, we'll arrive in San Jose by plane at 13.00 on the 18th and then we'll pick up our rental car. I was wondering if it is possible to reach Tortuegero on the 18th in the evening? I have done a lot of research and saw that the last regular boat is leaving at 4.30 at La Pavona, I'm afraid we won't make that one. Could you recommend us how to travel on that day to tortuegero? Kind regards, Lili
Hi Lili Thanks for your interest in our humble inn. Tortuguero is a unique destination located on a narrow strip of land between a river and the Caribbean Sea next to the Tortuguero National Park. As you already know it is not accessible by road. We are surprisingly only 100 kilometers distant in a straight line from the international airport in the center of the country but one needs to travel through the downtown core of the nation's busy capital, San Jose, take a winding road through the mountains and then pass through miles of lowland farms and Banana plantations before reaching the remote dock in la Pavona where you will find the public boat to Tortuguero. Due to the unpredictable nature of the weather and traffic conditions in this country one ought to budget a lot of time to get here. Most people begin their journey from San Jose to Tortuguero in the morning to allow plenty of time for a variety of unpredictable delays. Since you mention that your international flight arrives at 13:00h I would have to tell you that it is virtually impossible to safely or reliably reach the last scheduled boat of the day from la Pavona at 4:30pm. There is no other public transport service after 4:30pm because night falls at 5:30pm in December and the boats are not allowed to navigate on that river after dark. It will simply take too long to get through customs, immigration and do all the necessary paperwork to get your rental car before having to navigate your way through a strange country where many of the streets are not identified and the GPS vehicle navigation systems are not 100% reliable. Your much deserved vacation is meant to be enjoyable, relaxing and safe and I'm afraid that Tortuguero is simply too far to reach that day given the time you have allowed to get here. This is without even mentioning the stress-inducing complications that would result if you were to experience a delay in one of your flights or if your luggage was lost in transit. Please send us a note through the email address on our web site. Since I believe I cannot mention those details here you can easily find us by searching the internet for "Casa Marbella" and the word "Tortuguero". Tortuguero is a destination not to be missed and we would be delighted to help you fit us into your travel itinerary in a safe and stress-free manner. Warm regards, Daryl Loth Owner
