this was my final stop after 2+ weeks traveling throughout Costa Rica. I saw more wildlife here in 36 hours than the other two weeks combined. 3 types of monkeys, sloths, birds, butterflies, and all sorts of creepy things live on and near the lodge. I went primarily to see turtles nesting and was afraid this would not happen since...

My family loved our visit to Turtle Beach Lodge! We visited Turtle Beach Lodge as part of a tour group arranged through our San Jose Hotel. Though I was apprehensive about being in a tour group, and picking up the members of the rest of the group took a long time, it ended up being a wonderful experience. We were...

Young couple, late 20's, recently engaged. This hotel was really nice. Really private. Area and beach. Hotel accomodates less than 50 people. Good food. Buffet style. Clean. Jungle experience. Lots of lizards, birds, insects and monkeys. Bug spray is definately a must. We did the kayak tour, Canal tour and Tortuguero Town tour. All recommended, especially the Turtle Watching Tour....

Like all of Torteguero you much take a boat to reach this secluded hotel. But this one is not even located on the main river or one of its canals. This former plantation is reached by boating down an additional private canal. The narrow inlet allowed many additional opportunities to view wildlife like green parrots, and spider monkeys at very...

My family had a great experience at Turtle Beach Lodge. We booked the trip directly with Christian at Turtle Beach Lodge. He was very quick to respond to our questions during the booking process. Carlos was our guide throughout our stay. He met us in San Jose and took us on our journey. He was knowledgable, friendly and you could...

Hidden deep in the forest, only accessible by boat, Turtle Beach Lodge is true paradise. The all-inclusive lodge offers delicious food, rainforest hikes, kayaking, river boat rides, and more. Turtle Beach Lodge is the only lodge in Tortuguero to have its own portion of the beach, only a few steps from the dining area. I hope to return to this...

Peaceful lodge in the middle of the jungle at Tortuguero. Never seen a hotel or lodge which had a more special entrance than this one: it takes a boat tour of at least 1 hour. Nice location, nice rooms. Guides are good and helpful. Tours are great! There are 3 tours included, but optional tours canmalso bedone. The optional night...

The lodge is situated in the Tortuguero National Park and can only be reached by boat. The whole lodge is eco-friendly and has clean, spacious rooms with wooden walls. You can hear the animals of the jungle, since there are no glas windows! Only mosquito nets are protecting the windows and therefore you feel right in the middle of the...

I rented a car with my boyfriend and we went all over Costa Rica. Tortuguero Park and the Lodge were definitely the best of it for sure. We booked a 2 days tour from San Jose and wished we booked the 3 days tour. The bus ride from San Jose was very nice, a bit bumpy but the scenery is...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The area of Tortuguero is rightfully called The Amazon of Costa Rica because access is only by boat on Jungle Rivers. Turtle Beach Lodge, 5 miles north of the town of Tortuguero, is a secluded resort spanning 175 acres with miles of jungle trails, a meandering private canal, and a half mile of beach adjoining still more isolated beaches. The lodge accommodates approximately 80 guests; assisted by a well trained staff and guides who ease you into an exciting jungle experience. Stay in the beautifully landscaped cabinas, swim in our turtle shaped pool, relax in the adjacent shady hammock hut with food and drink from the restaurant and bar. ... more   less
