This was our first stop on a round trip and a great way to start our holiday. What an amazing journey from San Jose. First by coach, with a stopover for a very nice breakfast, and then a transfer by boat through the rain forest to the lodges, seeing a diversity of wild life en route. Getting suitcases from the...

We had a couple of nights stay in this magical place. There are no roads so you go everywhere by boat. Our two hour trip up the river was amazing with lots of birds, reptiles and animals to see. The lodges are extremely comfortable and set in beautiful tropical surroundings close to the Caribbean Sea. There is a good walking...

Scenic boat ride to access this "jungle" resort surrounded by lush foliage and the sounds of birds and howler monkeys. Nice outside bar with music and large pool. Large water cooler to fill up your bottles before heading out. No AC or TV or other amenities but there is a large fan and at night it does cool down. One...

This lodge was our first destination on a two and a half week to Costa Rica. Getting there is part of the adventure. The lodge is set in the midst of the jungle and the rooms are large and comfortable. Every morning the howler monkeys wake you up with their amazing sounds. No need for an alarm clock. There is...

After a long bus and boat trip to reach the Lodge, we were very happy with our room. Nothing fancy, but you are in the jungle of Costa Rica. Very Close to the jungle! Rooms and bath were rustic, but served their purpose. Food and service was very good.

The gorgeous Tortuguero National Park is well worth the inconveniences of getting there and staying nearby, and Pachira Lodge is a rustic but charming venue. However, there is so much the owners/management could do to make this a first-class experience. Getting there is a challenge in itself. Just getting the bus out of San Jose was an ordeal, the transfer...

Stayed here as part of the 7 day grand tour of Costa Rica. Accommodation is lodge type, the bedroom area is clean and bright, the bathroom a little basic, but it is adequate for a two night stay. Insect repellent is essential, as is sun screen, hairdryer, light weight rain jacket. Consider taking a wet bag for packing your damp...

Getting to Pachira Lodge is an adventure in itself. It took most of one day to get from Cartago to there. Van, bus, boat. The boat trip is a bit of a tour with many animals to be seen alongside the shore. The lodge itself is very remote and the acommodations very rustic. It is in the middle of the...

Pachira Lodge is situated in the middle of the lush rainforest. The grounds are more than beautiful. You wake up early to the sound of howler monkeys. The staff is very friendly and the guides are very knowledgeable. Notice that Pachira lodge is not a luxury resort. There is no air conditioning in the rooms. The food is okay but...

Really enjoyed our stay here. The howler monkeys frightened the life out of me at 5.30am. People were up and about at this time but who wants to stay in bed when there is so much to see outside the room.
