Away from it all with no cars, only boats (engines can be heard but it does not detract) and the sounds of nature. Lovely food, friendly people and comfortable rooms. No air conditioning but not really needed during our visit. Lovely pool and nice sitting area surrounding it. Iguanas stroll the premises and many other indigenous wildlife can easily be...

We arrived and was allocated room nr 10. The room was as followes. Very dark. The view to the back was straight in to a wall. The view to the front was in to a building site. The walls between the rooms very so thin that you could hear every word that was said. A woman in the room next...

Dear cobwedlondon, Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay. We are extremely sorry to hear that we were not able to fulfill your expectations so you that you could enjoy the wonderful natural beauty of Tortuguero. First of all, I would like to clarify that Mawamba Lodge is located in the middle of the rainforest, on...

The lodge is located in a very remote area where you can only reach by travelling in a boat for just over an hour. The accomodation has a canal on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other. It is an idyllic place with parrots and other birds making their presence known by creating background music. The lodges are...

If you are going to spend time in Tortuguero, this is a wonderful lodge in an ideal location. Tortuguero is more rustic and out-of-the way than other more resort-y spots in Costa Rica, so don't expect 5-star comfort, but if you like nature and don't mind getting rained on some of the time (it's called "rain forest" for a reason),...

This location cannot be reached by car, you have to take a boat(I believe they are arranged by the lodges) through the canals to the river. It's a very pleasant and adventurous journey. The lodge provides all the meals, which were quite good and the facilities were what you would expect for a rainforest lodge. A bit rustic, but it...

Perfect 3 days! Beautiful grounds, far away from cars and roads, which was a first for me and for most people I imagine! All you can hear are birds and the sea. It was very relaxing! The rooms are great! No TV, no phone, nothing that'll spoil the bird songs. No window too so you can hear everything! It's a...

This was the first stop out of San Jose on our trip. It felt like being in a different world. A totally idyllic location only 15 minutes away from the village on foot. Absolutely loved the boat trip through the canals to get there. The staff were attentive. The rooms are basic but clean and the bed was exceptionally comfortable....

If you want to get lost in the rainforest, go here. All around you life is brimming over with monkeys, sloths, frogs, lizards, iguanas, parrots, toucans and countless varieties of birds, and thats just the view from your room's veranda. The guides there point out more wildlife than you could possibly have seen alone. This makes going on guided tours...

Although the bungalows are quite basic (there is no glass at the windows, only mosquito nets), the entire setting of the resort is amazing. There are sloths, iguanas, birds, butterflies, frogs (including the red-ey tree frog, blue jeans frog) you can see at the lodge. Our daughters were fascinated. Location is very good, right between the laguna and the sea....

Friendly staff and good guides. On boat tours you're in open boats - bring rainclothes. You can expect to see some wildlife, binoculars are a must. Rooms are standard, no tv, fridge or wifi - except in reception/lounge. Food was fine, the restaurant is open so appropriate attire needed if windy/cold. Placement is beautiful. River on one side, ocean on...
