We were both lucky and unlucky with our stay, luck that we got to go before they evacuated for the hurricane, unlucky in the fact we experienced a cold front with a lot of rain. However our guide Sebastian made the trips entertaining, despite going to Torteguero town in the pouring rain. The next day the weather was better, and...

Dear Tom_Emma_Rolfe, Thank you very much for taking the time to write and tell us about your experience at Mawamba Lodge. I see that in spite of the weather, you had a great time in Mawamba, and that is wonderful news. Hurricane Otto was a big concern here, and we had to evacuate everybody between the week of the 22nd...

We had a great time here. The cabins are set in stunning gardens, the surroundings are beautiful and right on the beach to see the turtles at the right time of year. We did a boat trip in pouring rain to see the wildlife, of which there is plenty, but it didn't diminish the experience even though we were soaked....

Dear MargaretC30, Thank you so much for writing and for having visited us at Mawamba Lodge and Tortuguero National Park. I am delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay!. Mawamba's location is definitely a true plus, quite close to Tortuguero town (only around 10-15 min walking by the beach) and with direct access to the beach here. Although we don't...

If you only had one place in Costa Rica that you could visit I would come here. The grounds are full of plant and animal experiences, that would take you a long time to see elsewhere. If you are lucky you might see baby turtles rushing to the beach but you need to be up at dawn to catch them....

Dear Roydi, It is a true pleasure to learn how much you enjoyed your experience in Tortuguero & Mawamba Lodge. Turtle nesting and hatching is a wonderful thing to be able to see. It is such a gift of nature, that being here at that time of the year is definitely a not to miss activity. July to October marks...

This is the best place ever!!! Let me make this simple - If you look like Barbie or Joey Essex then definitely do not stay here. If you can swap your makeup and hair straighteners for sun cream and insect repellent then definitely, 100% do stay here!! It was one of four places we stayed during our honeymoon in October...

Dear RuthandNick09, You certainly made me smile! I agree with you, Tortuguero is the kind of place to leave behind the city's hustle and bustle to rejoice with nature's beauty, exuberance and wonderful opportunity to discover the Rainforest's wildlife. It is a place where nature blends in with the rustic and local atmosphere to create a natural hideaway for nature...

We booked the 3 days / 2 nights paket with the 'standard' canal and garden tour. The weather was great and we have been able to see so much of the National park. Our guide Fabio did such a good job and is a great host! We highly recommend this tour. In addition we booked the turtle tour at night....

The Mawamba Lodge made our stay in Tortuguero unforgettable. The package includes transportation to the park, which takes you through the canals by boat. The hotel offers a variety of great tour options. The grounds are beautiful with lovely trails and a tranquil pool. The restaurant makes wonderful food as well!
