This is a lovely, friendly, rustic lodge in the rainforest.located on the Tortugeuro River, a sandbar from the Caribbean, this hotel is the perfect place to get unplugged. No phones or TVs in the rooms. Screens only on the windows to allow the rainforest sounds to lull you to sleep, and wake you in the morning (earplugs provided for those...

I am leaning towards a 3.5 rating here. The hotel is in a wonderful location, right by the river, across from the air strip (two flights a day, you never hear the planes) and a quick and nice boat ride to the park. The hotel's grounds are really nice but that is to be expected in costa rica where just...

Dear interterra, I’m delighted to hear that overall you felt that we are the best property in Tortuguero and that our location and trails made up for the deficiencies. Thank you for sharing your feedback about our food. We have taken immediate action. I called Federico Barrantes, our Executive Chef, he is at Tortuga Lodge today. As a result of...

We are a family of 3 (our daughter is almost 3) and we spent 3 nights, 2,5 days in Tortuga Lodge. We wished that we better booked 4 or 5 nights, 2,5 days is just to short to really enjoy and relax at Tortuga Lodge. It is not cheap, but worth every Euro/ Dollar/ Colones. We saw other lodges nearby...

This was our introduction to Costa Rica and it could not have been better. The gardens are teeming with birds and other wildlife and the resident guides are always on hand to spot and recognise what you are seeing. The boat trip through the narrow channels of the National Park was especially good and we saw dozens of different species...

Dear Graham W, It sounds like you really enjoyed your boat tours into Tortuguero National Park and our local Naturalist Guides. Most of our guests schedule one or two motorized boat tours into the park or one motorized boat tour and one kayaking tour. The kayak tours go into creeks that can not be used by motorized boats, they give...

We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The staff is very friendly and hospitable. There are a lot of animals which you can find in the garden of the lodge. The food and drinks are really good. Coffee and tea is for free and you'll get free fresh fruitjuice with your breakfast. The swimmingpool is really nice,...

My wife and I took the long road trip from Liberia to La Pavona via 4WD. The last portion of the drive (maybe 20 miles) was on dirt, completely unimproved road filled with foot deep pot holes.....best speed 20 MPH. In La Pavona we paid about $3.00 each for the boat ride to Tortuguera and $10.00 per day to park...
