This unique hotel, is situated right in the rainforest, bordering the Caribbean sea and adjacent to almond trees. As soon as you arrive you feel at peace, the surroundings envelop you and treat you to a magical experience. The staff was amazing, every single one of them went overboard to make us happy. Totally recommend!

If you want to experience nature at a place with excellent cousine, this is the place. You will hear howling monkeys from your room; most probably you will see sloths, crabs with bright colors. And the special attention of the staff is great.

This small slice of paradise is a perfect blend of nature and comfort... Positive: Marco (the owner) always had the time to share his vast knowledge on many subjects and to show us the wonderful wildlife infused surroundings...howler monkeys, sloths toucans and yes! 2 eyelash vipers! Angel made the delicious food even better with his winning smile and charm. The... More

So, its not worth the high price tag but we enjoyed our stay. The place is quite run down, with need of a spruce up, better food (although breakfast was great as was Angel the man who looked after the kitchen). It doesn't do luxury as it claims though. Rooms were clean and lovely, just not worth the high price... More

I visited Almendros y Corales with high expectations because of its reputation as a sustainable hotel. To my dismay this hotel is not only NOT environmentally friendly (the janitor told us he was using muriatic acid to clean the bathroom pipes!), it is old and run-down due to lack of maintenance, dirty, offers bad service, bad food, and doesn't comply... The hotel was constructed in the jungle in an environmentally conscious manner and is very close to the beach. The staff members are friendly and welcoming. The hotel is in a relatively remote location (a couple kilometers from the nearest towns on either side) but busses run regularly between the towns. Given the open concept (screens and curtains rather than... More

My husband and I were recommended Almonds and Corals by a great guy we met on the inter is from San Jose to Puerto Viejo. Upon arrival the staff was more than welcoming. The owner walked us down the path to the beach to ensure we knew the safest places to swim and not get caught in the rip tides.... More

I stayed at this hotel twice. First time was a long time ago when it was more basic and it was amazing... a comfortable camping in the middle of the jungle!. The second time was recently for work and i've noticed a big upgrade: now some rooms have jacuzzi and they are very nice constructions with a sense of amplitude... More

It's a no frills, pretending eco-nature hotel. Very expensive, noisy if the next door bungalow is occupied, you feel there is no privacy, very limited restaurant menu, plus orange juice glass size the same as a credit card!!, we tought it was something between hilarious and being really, really cheap!! The hotel requires a lot of maintenance which I dont... More
