This was my biggest disappointment during my so far 3,5 months traveling. We arrived by 6 pm and had to wait 45 min by the reception before the reception girl came back from walking her dog. While waiting we ordered beers which still were at the same spot in the chilling out area when we checked out the day after....

This place has a party feel so if that's what you're looking for it's great - I would also say it helps of you're in a group or with friends. I was on my own and found it difficult to interact with other people as they were all in groups and it was quite cliquey! When I did find a...

I was skeptical about this place as it has a reputation of a "party" place. When traveling to hostels, one has to decide what mood they are looking for to satisfy. A quiet night's sleep or to meet people from all over the world, play music, drink beer, beach bonfires. This place was large and sprawling but open. Fits all budgets...

The staff was not very friendly nor helpful. They did not even show me the way to my dorm. I was there for three nights and the toilets and showers outside my room were cleaned for the first time at the third day i was there. The kitchen was pretty well eqipped, though they didnt have any cups. It was...

This place is massive and has a wide selection. Any type of traveler is welcome from the hammock loving, tent snuggling to your traditional shared and private dorms. They also have a J's Palace which seems to be amazing. It's right on the beach just a few blocks from downtown Puerto Viejo. My boyfriend and I slept in a tent...

I stayed here for 2 nights and while I liked the beach at the back, the customer service and friendliness was appalling. I left my passport behind with reception as they required to hold on to it and when it was returned to me, it was completely damaged. Pages crumpled, the front of the passport bent out of shape and...

If you're between the ages of 18-25, you love to get wasted, and enjoy the thought of sleeping in a hammock in a room full of strangers, this is the place for you. Very eclectic, with lots of cool art in the form of mosaics covering just about every surface in the place. Decent food and cheap drinks ($1 tequila...
