Located in the serene little village of Cocles, it is only 2km walk or bike ride into the lively town of Puerto Viejo. We entertain a unique concept: backpackers boutique hotel. Our credo is this: We believe that true value is not necessarily one size fits all. First place in Costa Rica I've ever found disappointing. The room has a nasty smell. Moldy? It's also very small and stuffy which wouldn't be a big deal but the smell...we asked if we could have another room and they said there are none available. Also when we booked it, it advertised "free parking." Well yeah...the free parking is on a busy street. $10 a night extra to park on premises. The icing on the cake was when they charged my husband $5 for a beer. I don't recommend this place.

I want to add something important!!! The Caribbean of Costa Rica is NOT like a super visited area (or WAS). This is a huge province of Costa Rica with too many problems. Problems caused by old governments! This area its been treated by some governments like a NONE existed province for many years!!! Thanks to hotels like Playa 506 the South Caribbean is back on the map. Many Costarrican NOW wants to visit the AMAZING places the Caribbean of Costa Rica can offer to the visitor! As a Costarrican I want YOU to visit this beautiful place, I have been there with my mother, wife, son, and nephew a few times and they keep asking me to go again and again to Playa 506. NOT Kidding!!! Just try by yourself!

Love, love this place. Incredibly clean, safe, wonderful location, excellent energy and phenomenal staff. Their daily smiles, helpfulness and positive outlook were appreciated. I firmly believe a place attracts the magic and Playa 506 did just that. I met the most amazing souls here. From families traveling together to other independent travelers to couples, I made forever friends. The dogs and house cat give it an even more homey feel. Walking right to the beach in morning to watch the sunrise or gathering for a fire with other guests at night was really delightful~ The owners really carved out a happy, healing, amazing space. In my 55 countries traveled to and hundreds of places stayed, Playa 506 is absolutely the place where I can only describe as magic. Thank you all for you who made my stay more than a stay but a happy home for three weeks~ *Wi fi is great too for those who need it *Food is great at restaurant for those who want it *kitchen for guests to use is always cleaned so well by staff and has everything you need. *Space and layout...perfect *bike rentals are a breeze *walkable to two grocery stores and a handful of restaurants :)…

Playa 506 is in the best location in Puerto Viejo and the staff is so friendly! I couldn’t recommend staying here more. The friendly dogs that stay here and the beachfront bar are the best part for sure!

Great place, right on the beach. Has a super nice staff that are very helpful. There are hammocks and places to that are set just back from the beach. Recommend for anyone who is looking to socialize and relax on a tighter budget.
