We checked in for a room (4 nights) and got a little suspecios when we had to pay all nights in advance. The room itself was ok though quite cold. El Senor was friendly and helfpful (tips, gave us one lift to the park entry at 4:30 in the morning and a shoo-brush after hiking). Thought announced, we never got...

The hotel is very nice, super clean and cozy. The owners are extremely client focus. They helped us with all the processes to book our climb to the Chirripo. The owner drove us at 3:30am to the main entrance and then went and pick us up all wet. The food was extraordinary!!! And the price is very good.

El descanso is a really nice place to stay! It's near the national park chirripo and the cloud bridge reserve project. The friendly and very helpful owner offers free transfers to the entrance of both. It is also possible to go for a hike through his own land and plantations (coffee, bananas, oranges...)on a mountain nearby, where you'll have a...

El Descanso is a modest hotel but covers your needs at $16 a person. Our room had a bunk bed, and the bathroom was shared for all rooms at the hotel. There is also a sauna available for use for $10. The owner, Francisco, was a nice and helpful guy. We heard the food was delicious, but when we visited...

Rooms themselves are fine, but in general lack some comfort. The beds are old, shower only has cold water, the parking space is through a very narrow passageway and tricky to get out. That said, the owner is very helpful (though speaks only spanish and some english) and cooks a nice dish. If there are a lot of customers, you...

I spent 5 days at the El Descanso, before and after climbing Cerro Chirropo. The hotel is in a peaceful and quiet setting with abundant flowers and a small grassy area in front of the rooms. This grassy area can also be used for pitching a tent if you prefer to camp. Mr. Elizondo and his wife were great hosts...

It was a good location, close to Mount Chirripo Park office, hot springs and town. The food served was great and landscaping was nice. On the down side, our room was box like, bed was sagging in middle and there was no hot water in both bathrooms. Further, they have absolutely no refund policy. For this reason, it is recommended...
