The place is good, and is cheap considering how far and high the place is. The food is really good as well. I stayed one night in a shared room and the beds are comfy. They have Hot water, it is like heaven when you are coming down from Chirripo and you want to give some rest to your legs....

This hotel is popular with bird watchers and hikers going to Chirripo. The room was nice, the service good and the breakfast great. Those hikers, however, get up very early and stood outside our door talking really loud. We were tired from the previous day's hike and so did not appreciate it.

We stayed in a self contained cabin (one of a few) on the Uran Hotel property. It has a small kitchen with the basics if you want to eat/cook inside the cabin...we chose to use the small restaurant for all meals...breakfast was included in the price. We got a good deal as we had stayed there in 2001...back when the...

I have stayed at Hotel Uran several times, the nights before climbing up to Chirripó. The service is friendly and helpful. There are items for sale in case you forgot something, and on your way down they lend you a bathroom for a shower before you head back to town. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the food is...

We stayed there before hiking Chirripo and also had lunch there after coming back. The food was good, room was clean, and the showers were hot. It's also located very close to the beginning of the hike to Chirripo. They even have a large sink where you can wash your boots after the hike.

While it is not a luxury hotel, it is clean and friendly. The best part is that is closest hotel to the chirripo park entrance, so its a great place to start your journey to Chirripo. Food is also good and prices are very reasonable. We stay there every time we climb Chirripo. I am sure we will stare there...

We arrived in San Gerardo a day early and decided to stay here. The rooms were great. Comfy beds, clean bathrooms. The best part was how friendly and helpful the staff was. Food here was very satisfying. If you're in the area I highly recommend staying here.

Although, we weren't staying here at the hotel, we did have a well deserved lunch after a morning of hiking and birding. Lunch was really very good. Excellent salads and meat dishes with cheerful & friendly service. In a great area for walking too.

Before climbing Chirripo you are suppose to get a good rest however was not the case in this hotel... I could have noticed immediately that the sheets are not clean and during the night I could feel urine smell from the covers.. I know the place is close to the entrance to the park so that's why is very convenient...

Hotel Uran is a great choice if you plan to hike up the Chirripó. The staff is really helpful, and the food is competent (full of needed carbs). The rooms are very clean, and most accommodate up to 4 people.
