We stayed in the smallest bungalow for four nights. The garden is a corner of paradise in the middle of the forest, where you can listen to the waves of the sea and to the parrots and howler monkeys, all at the same time! The family who runs the hotel was kind and accomodating, they promptly attended to our requests and helped with small needs. The bungalows and the kitchen were always tidy and very clean, very safe also during the current pandemic. An enchanted place to stay for a few days in Cahuita.
This was our second visit here and we weren’t disappointed again. The ambiance there is so relaxing, lying on your hammock watching all the creatures in the garden capuchin monkeys, raccoons, agoutis, humming birds on the mimosa trees which are right outside the bungalows, crabs, butterflies and howler monkeys who are your alarm call in the morning. The bungalows themselves provide a kettle, fridge, basic crockery and cutlery which is very helpful but it is so close to everything the Main Street where there are a couple of supermarkets as well as bar/restaurants so it is not difficult to find anywhere to eat. It is also a two minute walk to the beach and National Park, there is a small donation to pay each time you use it. If you are looking for a relaxed holiday I would recommend the bungalows.…
I have been to 110 countries and this one ranks up there with the most unaccomodated stays that I have ever experienced on several levels. Before I continue, I must state that the people at this site are very nice and friendly. Now to the reveiw.. On the plus side, it has a veranda where we saw a fine display of white faced Monkees and birds daily. It has a small fridge and a safe. Critical, but that's it. The level of concern and service is very poor. The cleaner repeatedly did not supply fresh towels, soap, coffee. Never once cleaned the coffee filter. She did provide fresh bedding and she did clean the premise. And, if you went to the " big house", Leandro would gladly supply you with your necessities. But it is on you. The premise is open, floor and ceiling, to the outside. Literally anything can get in at any time. Mostly, these are ants, which will come for one crumb, spiders, small land crabs, little biting black flies ( no see ums ), and mosquitos. The beds have nets thank God and our room had 2 fans on high speed all the time. The biggest negative was NO AC! HUMIDITY IS EXTREMELY HIGH and breeze low. If it rains, which it did everyday, AC is a must. Plates and utensils are supplied but no where to clean them. You cannot drink the water and there is no where comfortable to sit and eat or snack. Plus no where to store garbage that is unassailable by insects. There is more to be said, but for the serious travellers, you should have gotten the gist of it by now. We would have sought different accommodation except, believe it or not, the whole area was sold out. And, believe it or not, a lot of the places are worse upon investigation. My best advice, do not accept any place with no AC and do not believe the pictures online. Try to arrive in daylight so you can see what you are getting into... it is very rustic. This owner lives stateside and takes cash only. The reasons are quite obvious. Cahuita is well worth the visit. But find a different accommodation unless you are a person whose has been living in the woods for your entire life.…
As soon as we arrived we were disappointed. Positive Part Refrigerator coffee maker kettle and WiFi The area outside is lovely with white faced monkeys everywhere. Negative Part Inside there were mosquitoes flying around. There are gaps where the wall joins the floor. My husband's hand was so inflamed and swollen with the bites he got he had to go to the Dr.and was given an antibiotic. Ants everywhere...we had to keep the garbage can outside . When we returned there was a line of ants on my bed. On the outside deck old beat up lawn chair and a old wood chair....very uncomfortable. The photo online is nothing like we had. I can't recommend this place.
Bungalow style rooms nested in a garden, with chairs and hammock outside, make it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the many birds, occasional monkeys and nature. Rooms are equipped with refrigerator, coffee maker, mosquito net etc. Great location, as the walk to Cahuita NP is just about 5 minutes. They have tours etc that one can organise.
