We really enjoyed our time here. The staff were all really friendly and helpful and our room was clean, comfy beds and powerful showers (but cold water only for us, which was nice after the hot days). The front outside of the room is lovely for chilling in the night/morning with the hammock, tables and chairs and the torches lit throughout the hotel grounds. It’s lovely to wake up to so much greenery every morning (and a star fruit tree on our doorstep) and the complimentary coffee is lovely as you wake up to the world! We cooked often in the kitchen so no complaints about the facilities/equipment there. Just a few notes - WiFi during ‘peak hours’ can really slow down and there were a few bits of wildlife saying hello to us in our room (a small lizard, a small spider and what we think were a few termites) - no problems for us but just to flag in case this may bother people (although this is pretty common everywhere in Costa Rica!) all in all I’d stay again and would recommend to others - we extended our stay when we visited. Good value for money!

This place was much more run-down and in need of a remodel than I expected. The dining area was great and they provided coffee and tea all day. However, my room was not too comfortable and I didn't love spending time in there. The location is good but it just didn't make up for the fact that it wasn't as nice as it seems in the photos.

We stayed for three nights in room no. 22 in May 2019. The room is spacious and bed and shower were clean. The rest not so much but we also only paid USD 80,- for two people. The bathroom walls were actually very dirty. The room had a fan/ventilator but unfortunately it was very noisy and as it must stay on during the night sleeping was a challenge.

Palmer Makanda is an adorable hotel in Cahuita walking distance from CaPalmer Makanda is an adorable hotel in Cahuita walking distance from Cahuita National Park. Each room features a garden view and includes a small terrace with table and chairs and a hammock. It is certainly not a 5-star place but by Central American standards, the place is clean. The rooms have television, wardrobe and private bathroom. There is shared kitchen which can get busy in the mornings but is well stocked with cookware. The shared garden space features multiple tables where guests can eat, play board games, socialize or spend time on their laptops while drinking the unlimited coffee throughout the day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside is there is no hot water. Aside from that, it was one of our favorite places to stay in Costa Rica. For the price, you really can’t beat it. Probably one of the best places to stay in Cahuita.

If you're looking for a clean lodge, you better choose another hostel. The commun area is fine, the kitchen is dirty but free and you also have place in the commun fridge. The owner, an old women, is very very nice and helpful! It's very close to the supermarket, the national park (wich you don't have to pay from this entry) and the best restaurants and bars of Cahuita. The prices are OK.
