This was a pretty nice place however I was extremely frustrated with the proprietors for asking for additional charges related to our visit that I had not agreed to. It really spoiled what was otherwise a very nice stay. I would say the pros were clean rooms, excellent bedding, very friendly hosts and quality amenities. The cons were that it does not serve breakfast because not a BnB, the cleaners tampered with my things more then I care for, language barrier, and the trying to charge extra was the biggest frustration. Overall it's a pretty good place to stay and the casas are nice. Normally, this place would recieve 4-5 stars but the poor communication and uncomfortable situation I was placed in leaves me with highly negative feelings about my experience. It was upsetting. The hosts should do better than put a guest in this very unhappy position and I'm resentful to them because of it.…
We stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The garden setting is beautiful and peaceful. The cabin was spacious with a lovely patio and also an outside sink and line to hang up any wet clothes/towels etc. We didn’t use the kitchen but it seemed well-equipped. Bed was comfortable and the cabin had fans to keep it cool. Large clean bathroom with a hairdryer. Only thing missing was a safe. Good parking and secure property. Great location within easy walking distance of the beach and town. Luciano was lovely and gave us a great overview of Cahuita when we arrived so we were up to speed on where to eat, shop, swim etc. Definitely recommend!
We planned a two week adventure throughout Costa Rica comprised of 5 stops. Casa Marcellino was our third stop and the most relaxing and hospitable. Will re-book again when i visit the village again in the future.
My wife, son and I traveled to Cahuita to get away from it all and we found the perfect spot: Casa Marcellino in Cahuita. We were there for about ten days over Christmas, renting a beautiful, sparkling clean (and well equipped kitchen) 2 bedroom bungalow (of I believe 4 on the property), situated in what seemed like a mini rain forest/garden (lovingly taken care of by the owners Maricé and Luciano). The place was just out of town so far enough away, but also close enough to walk to and enjoy the many restaurants or to catch a public bus to any number of local towns and beaches. Oh, and did I mention that Luciano is from Italy so I got to practice my Italian (and he gracefully obliged). It was a wonderful and relaxing stay AND on Christmas eve Maricé and Luciano vistited each bungalow with a small present, an Italian panettone, of course! Grazie mille!…
My wife and I rented one the chalets for a long weekend. The chalets are immaculate, Luciano (the proprietor) is charming and helpful and Raquel (the cleaner) is very friendly. The 4 chalets are set in beautiful gardens about 5 mins walk from the black sand beach and the beach-side bars and about 15 mins walk to the centre of the village. It is a quiet location with gates for good security. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is adequate but with rather limited food storage space. But it is intended for holidays, not a long stay. The bathroom has a bath as well as a shower, and hot water (if you need it).
