This was one of the original eco-lodges and has grown in reputation. Rooms are nice and beds are firm. Meals are good with many options available. (This was a welcome relief after staying at several lodges with rather rustic accommodations and meals). The place is huge and a magnet for students, bird-lovers, nature-seekers, and conservationists. Be advised that the rooms...

Loved the room. We were in Room 42 on the river. Could sit on our deck and watch birds for hours. Chiggars were an issue. Pool was nice. Night safari fun.Saw a poisonous snake. Bird guide was just ok. Food typical Costa Rican. Limited selection.

We spent 3 nights at the Selva Verde Lodge because we wanted to be close to the La Selva Biological station (just a 15 minute drive down the road) and wanted a pool for our younger son. We booked the Chilamate Apartment and it was very nice - 2 good size bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (2 upstairs, 1 downstairs), a nice...

Increíble! Beautiful! We did the chocolate tour which is definitely worth doing. We also swam in the river and did the long walk around. Highly recommend all!! The beds/rooms are perfect. Clean and specious. The breakfast overall was fine.. a little basic. Take note that there are two restaurants and if you buy the deal of lunch and dinner you...

Stayed for one night as part of the TUI "Grand tour of Costa Rica. A fabulous eco lodge, jungle walks, coati's, agouti's, sloths, a variety of frogs, snakes and insects. As the the birds...wow. We got up at 5.00 am and saw over 30 species in 2-3 hours. Outstanding. The facilities are good, the guides excellent. Our only regret is we...

I would give this place 5 stars for location and proximity to the rain forest. It is right on the doorstep. Some people staying didn't need to go out of the grounds, especially the keen photographers who just set up their equipment and waited for the wildlife. We saw sloths, poison dart frogs, howler monkeys, turtles, iguanas, toucans, and a...

We stayed in one of the bungalows across the road from the main hotel which was lovely and peaceful. The breakfast buffet was excellent and being able to sit with your coffee and watch the birds at the bird feeder was a big plus. We went on the self-guided walk and enjoyed that and saw a lot of wildlife as...

We stayed at a mix of small hotels including a couple of really luxurious places during our 11 day trip to CR. Despite its quirks Selva Verde ended up being our favorite of the trip. We stayed 3 nights. It's a rain forest so prepare to be damp. We got a lot of rain, but it brought out the frogs!...

The resort is very well presented, spread over a large area with a river running alongside. It has its own reserve of primary rainforest which is pretty cool to go into (particular highlight seeing the manakin bird). The food and particularly the cocktails are very nice, as is the breakfast. The only problem is having a room by the road...

This is a beautiful resort, right on the river, with opportunity to see many animals, birds, and critters! The rooms are large with windows on two sides to allow for beautiful view as well as ventilation, as there is no a/c. Take a portable fan!! The food was great as was the service. There is a feeding area for the...
