Many people travel to Sarapiqui for the world class birding. Famous Selva Verde Lodge is just up the street. I think they are a little pricey but see for yourself. Here is a cute little eco-lodge alternative in the same forest run by a delightful family. I like the covered walkways as it rains a lot here. I loved out...

A lovely family run retreat in a beautiful open location surrounded by rainforest. The family were welcoming and very helpful. The cabin was comfortable. The meals were excellent and the best Costa Rican food we had. The complimentary guided hike in the rainforest was lovely and we saw plenty of wildlife. We could also watch monkeys from the garden. There is...

My sister & I stayed here for 5 nights and were so happy with our decision to do so! We had room 1 by the river and spent many hours relaxing in the hammocks while watching the howler monkeys and birds. 3 species of toucans, parrots, tityras, tanangers, and kingfishers were seen daily also. It was also the best place...

We had a perfect stay for three nights with our two kids (8 and 10). The food was fresh and delicious - we ate all of our meals there - the beds were fine, no bugs in the room at all. Great fan, basic and clean rooms. Jungle lodge was nice and private. Slept great with the rain on the...

The Chilamate Rainforest lodge is perfect. You should not go there if you are looking for an ice cubes machine or air conditioning. But if you love nature, appreciate sustainability, enjoy good food you should definitely go there. Megan and her husband offer great hospitality. We would love to go back.

My wife and I just came back from our trip in Costa Rica. Chilamate was our first few days and it was the best way to experience a true Costa Rican / Rainforest experience: * The owners Meghan and Dave are super friendly and their story is amazing, they build all the retreat themselves, Meghan works at the local school,...

This place has some really awesome aspects, but some drawbacks as well. Pros *Owner is super nice and very helpful. She answered tons of questions and was just very friendly. *The food was really good. The breakfast buffet isn't super extravagant, but is well done with a good amount of tasty options for everyone. The dinner/lunches were really yummy. Plenty...

We stayed here for 2 nights (at the end of January 2014) as part of our 3 week trip to Costa Rica. The accommodation was clean and had everything we needed. The area outside our room was well equipped with 2 hammocks and lots of seating. There was complimentary coffee (and teas) available. I loved the whole ethos of the...
