Tamarindo Village Hotel is built on a lush hillside and consists of 12 spacious and very private rooms and suites overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We are only 500 meters from Tamarindo's town center, beaches, restaurants, and shops. Tamarindo Village is unique among hotels in Tamarindo: We feature private plunge pools with ocean and jungle views at several bungalows; our average room size (over 500 square feet) is double that of similarly priced hotels. Most of our rooms have large patios and gardens up to 500 square feet. Select rooms have open air showers in extra-spacious bathrooms and wet bars. Our community swimming pool has a poolside bar, and quiet with privacy guests won't find outside the highest priced hotels in our area. We have a 24-hour front desk with express check-ins for all guests. Our concierge service can arrange transportation locally and countrywide, and we can discuss and make tour suggestions and reservations for all guests.

An absolute treat in Tamarindo! This Family owned & operated boutique hotel in Tamarindo has the perfect location of where you want to be in if you are looking for some calm after a busy day on the beach strip away from the hustle & bustle of Tamarindo. The beach restaurant and shopping sector is only a short 10 minutes walking distance, and easily accessible by vehicle (but the parking hassle was not worth driving, unless you have a ton of stuff to lug around for your day out). Thanks to Steve, Martha & Trevor our little family had the most comfortable and amazing experience here. Our room was clean, spacious and right beside the pool which was very convenient for us to cool off first thing in the morning and at the end of our day. The grounds were lush, clean and had a great at atmosphere, so beautifulto come home to at thw end of a big day in the sun. This boutique hotel offers fresh made-to order breakfast which was just perfect for our early mornings. Martha was wonderful in helping us book with a local guide David to go on a night beach walk to see green Turtles in their natural habitat coming on to shore to lay their eggs. It was one of our most magical experiences we have ever had. This place exceeded our expectations for hospitality, comfortability, cleanliness and convenience. We will be back every time we come to Costa Rica for sure!

The best thing about Tamarindo Village is Martha and Steve the owners Martha arranged tours for us and Steve arranged airport pick up and drop off Both were there if we needed anything The hotel is an oasis with greenery surrounding the suites for privacy Rm 2 was like being in a treehouse. It is round like a yurt and very roomy We adopted their kitty for the week. She was at the door every morning. It took a couple of days to get our bearings. The road to the left leads to the beach, the road to the right to downtown The location is quiet but the howler monkeys do come to eat the mangoes in front of the hotel. They are noisy but cool to hear and watch. The pool is never busy and the breakfast is cooked to your liking. We need gluten free and there are many many options downtown Check out the sunsets and fire dancers on the beach The only thing that I could say would improve the stay would be to have a microwave and iron/ironing board for use at the pool bar. Also be careful that yiu don’t bang your head in the tv as it is mounted on a post in the middle of the room. Would I stay here again? Absolutely!!!

We stayed at Tamarindo Village hotel for 2 nights in March 2022. This place is lovely, just up the hill from town, which makes it very quiet and peaceful. Run by a lovely family, Steve, Marta, and Trevor, they really do make you feel at home here. So friendly, relaxed and helpful. Their staff were also exceptional, very friendly and working hard all day to keep the hotel spotless. It's just a small place, so don't expect a luxury resort, but we loved it. Clean, comfortable room, excellent AC and good wifi, very spacious with everything you need. The honour bar was great—relaxed and there if you need it, and our kids just loved the pool, it was the perfect temperature for cooling off. Tamarindo is a bit too busy and touristy for our family's preference, and so we only stayed a short while, but the hotel was just lovely. Highly recommended!

Stayed here for only 2 nights, but out of our 5- hotel stay in 12 days in Costa Rica Tamarindo Village Hotel was our favorite. We also stayed at ten north and Arco Iris. Steve, Martha, and Trevor were like family members after only a 2-night stay. They had beer, water, Gatorade’s and other cold drinks all available on the honor system which was great after hours when we needed a drink. Pool was perfect size and had comfortable seating. I can’t recommend this place enough!

One a recent 15-day trip to Costa Rica (CR), I had the privilege of staying at the Tamarindo Village Hotel (TVH) for two separate stays of 2 and 3 nights. Let me start with the best and most truly special part about this place—the owners. Steve and Martha are warm and wonderful. How, you ask. During our stay Martha arranged a catamaran tour (at a good rate) which was one of the highlights of our trip. She arranged our COVID tests for the return. Then, when the lab did not publish our COVID tests, at 20:30 she herself called the doctor in charge of the clinic and we had our negative tests resulted via email 30 minutes later. The owner’s son, Trevor, gave accurate information about surf times and lessons and was a generally excellent resource about all things Tamarindo. The staff cooks wonderful breakfasts each morning and these are included with the rooms. They can also refer you to local cabs that are safe and charge fair rates. Getting there with a car is a bit tricky as the last 2km to the hotel are potholed, dirt roads. Must use Waze, not Google maps, like in CR generally. Parking is ample in the grass lot next to the property. If you are driving in CR, get a 4 by 4—I cannot stress this enough. The property consists of about 12 individual bungalows. We were in a 1 bedroom with three beds then the Ocean View loft. Both were nice and clean and more or less like the pictures. I notice other reviewers complaining about bugs. Yes, there are bugs; CR is a country of jungles! All of the 5 places we stayed had bugs. At TVH we had to deal with about 5 bugs a day, tragic. Better Wi-Fi than other properties on our trip. Like in most places outside of San Jose, CR, we felt very safe. The property is kind of on the edge of Tamarindo and is quiet at night (save animals noises of the jungle and local pets). The gate to the property is locked after hours. Unlike standard American hotel rooms of similar name, neither had a separate bedroom. So, reconsider if you need privacy from say the kids with whom you may be travelling. Also, others complained about the slope. The property is nestled on a hillside. It was fine for me, mid-fifties just slightly overweight. The climb would be most challenging for anyone out of shape or with joint issues. The ‘gardens’ as we walked to our rooms were pleasant. The pool is clean, warm and perfect for children. The soaking tub attached to the Ocean view is a bit too chlorinated and not heated. The jets do work and this would be great on a hot day during the CR summer, Dec-April. Martha, Steve and Trevor made us feel as if we were long time family friends rather than just customers.

Tamarindo Village is a hidden garden boutique hotel with very cute and comfortable bungalows. The owners are a lovely couple and their adult son was so so helpful and friendly with us and our millions of questions. The walk to the beach and restaurants is a bit rough but manageable. Overall our stay was pleasant but we did have one issue with the night-time office worker who we encountered smoking pot next to our car in the parking lot and then was visibly stoned and unresponsive when we returned from dinner in the evening. I'm not a square but it did leave me feeling uncomfortable. Overall a very nice place to stay but I didn't like the young man who was too stoned to work.

only 11 rooms,,,#3 (where I stayed) has its own private outside jacuzzi, plus separately an outside shower. Really good cooked to order breakfast. Beautiful pool. Little bit remote...20 minute walk into town and beach but not bad even at night. The owners and staff were delightful. A/C, wifi, hot water, mattresses and TV were all great. Price was more than reasonable. This is a "sleeper"...just not that well known and how precious it is.

This place is so incredible! The staff made us feel so welcome, the owners assisted with transportation to and from the airport as well as any excursion we wanted. The rooms were so spacious, clean and the perfect place to relax after a long day. The homemade breakfast was absolutely delicious, better than any hotel I have stayed to date. The location of the hotel is perfect. We felt like we were in the middle of the jungle and woke to the amazing sound of howler monkeys. It was quiet, peaceful and safe. The walk to the beach was 8 minutes and we walked by a grocery store, pharmacy and ATM all of which we needed. My friends and I stayed over New Years. Because of COVID the restaurants closed early so the owners made us the most delicious homemade meal that we had all week. We ate together poolside and I felt like part of the family. Trevor makes the best bloody Mary’s in Tamarindo and is the friendliest bartender. To say we received the royal treatment is an understatement. I highly recommend this hotel and I cannot wait to return. I will be back!! Thank you Steve, Martha and family.

Absolutely amazing! Our first time in beautiful Tamarindo, and Tamarindo Village was the perfect home away from home while we explored the city. The room we stayed in is exactly what was portrayed in the pictures, only nicer. Everything was very clean and very comfortable. We didn’t experience any issues, and I’m sure if we had, we would have been well taken care of. Everyone was very friendly and helpful wherever they could be. Breakfast, which was included, was the perfect balance and amount of food to get each day started. The whole place was aesthetically stunning, from our view from the balcony to the area outside our unit that included a plunge pool, to the landscaping that surrounded the place. It could be a little closer to the beach, but at the same time, it was nice to be someone tucked away from all the activity of the town, and the walk isn’t bad at all (1/2 mile I believe). We were incredibly comfortable while we were there and we plan to be back when we are back in tamarindo.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share with others about your experience at Tamarindo Village. There is a saying that "Life's a beach". I love the beach, having grown up in Orange County, California. But I can tell you, honestly, that when the beach is a world class destination for surfers and others, there is more noise than just the waves and sea birds, and you might want to be away from that for sleeping and relaxing. That is why we love Tamarindo Village's location. We are just 1 minute from the waves by car; 8 minutes walking (and that is how you will see the monkeys and iguanas. And the walk is good for you, too. Waking up with the colorful birds, enjoying your included breakfasts with no traffic noise, no vendors, all that town stuff that a trip to Costa Rica is supposed to avoid, that's what our location offers. We love it here, you will, too.

This place is AMAZING and we highly recommend and can't wait to go back!!!  We loved every minute staying there and especially the guests and owners.  Shout out to Trevor's bar (to be named soon) and so sweet owners Martha and Steve.  Martha even gave me her salsa recipe which I can't make it as good as she does.  Trevor makes a hell of drink and Martha's son Osvaldo is just pure entertainment.  Our room was perfect and loved our little plunge pool, two outdoor areas to chill, super cold A/C and incredible open air shower with jungle views.  The staff were not only super friendly but funny too!   I have been to Tamarindo many times, but staying at this resort was by far my favorite.  Renting a buggy is the way to go to explore the town and surrounding areas. Although the resort was so great, we didn't really want to leave.  Awesome pool area, delicious breakfast, fast WiFi, and great all around vibe.
