My family and I have a trip booked for March. It was non refundable after 24 hours. We tried cancelling by email and call within that 24 hours and they were completely unresponsive. After 24 they refused our cancel request so I guess we will be staying there in a month! Would advise anyone to check out Airbnb first because they’re way cooler and Wyndham has bad customer service. ESP during the pandemic most companies are being more understanding of things - not Wyndham
Wyndham Guanacaste was amazing. The hotel had stunning views from everywhere. We enjoyed it all from breakfast to clean rooms, and a kind staff. They also have a private shuttle which takes you to the beach club which also had great service, food, drinks, and polite staff. I can’t wait to go back.
didn't feel like we were important. the water stopped working for 24 hours without notice or any apologies.food is overpriced and mediocre. wouldn't recommend coming here if you are trying to enjoy your vacation. pool doesn't get much sun and the gym is so small only two people can workout in there safely and distanced. masks aren't enforced and most are worn incorrectly if worn. \ the walk to the Beach/town is nice but make sure you can walk down hill and through the dirt/mud
Wonderful hotel with most incredible views of the ocean. Infinity pool is spectacular and so relaxing. The staff is friendly and pleasant. Great restaurant with equally amazing views. Shuttle to the beach runs often and there are many taxis available as well. Super fun town with many restaurants on the beach for incredible sunset dinners. Highly recommended property for anyone looking for an amazing experience in Costa Rica!!
After a 6 hour drive from the other side of the country, and a terrifying rocky road not meant for cars (that google maps directed us through and Wyndham has not bothered to redirect with a simple sign) we finally arrived at the Wyndham Tamarindo. It was a stunning view, we were so excited to check into our New Year's Eve treat that we booked over a month in advance through hotelopedia. I get to the front desk and find out we had no reservation- I was prepared with print outs of the reservation. They responded saying this reservation was cancelled and our third party 'hotelopedia' should have notified us. We were livid, it was NYE and surely everything in this town was booked up, and they were happy to shift the blame to the third party site. After 2 hours on the phone (with international fees that ended up costing me $300 for the phone calls alone) I finally get in touch with someone from hotelopedia that informed us that the Wyndham hotel had cancelled several of their booking the day before because they had overbooked. It was partly the third party's fault for not informing us the day before (not that we even check our email daily in Costa Rica on vacation), but I think it's mostly the Wyndham's fault for overbooking and cancelling the DAY BEFORE, and trying to shift the blame to the third party site to get us out of their hair. The truth is the Wyndham Tamarindo screwed us over AND the third party site out of GREED. What kind of business accepts a cancellation a day before from their customers with no penalty, especially for something as big as NYE?? If a business doesn't tolerate this without penalty, how can they turn around and do this to PEOPLE? It was unacceptable to cancel this booking we made over a month ago, the day before. The people at the front desk had nothing to offer us because they were booked for NYE, they were able to give us a room for the night of the 30th at a much higher rate than we had booked. We had to take it because we were tired and it was dark out. I implored the front desk staff to please let us know if anything opened up for the following day NYE. We rested for the evening and then went out to try to find a hotel in the city with availability for NYE, with no help from the Wyndham, despite their terrible inconvenient move to cancel our reservation the day before. We luckily found an availability at another hotel for NYE. While at this hotel on NYE, we ran into some guests that we had seen at our day at the Wyndham and shared our NYE horror story. The guests told us that when they were checking out of the Wyndham earlier that day (same time we checked out)- the staff offered to let them keep their wristbands to come back to their NYE party and also said that if they changed their mind- they had availability for NYE. We were furious of course, because the previous night I had implored with the staff to PLEASE let me know if anything opens up for NYE, and they assured me they would. To see that their staff cared so little about our horrible situation (two foreigners stranded on NYE), that they didn't even bother to remember to reach out when an availability opened up was just the cherry on top. (And they did not offer US to keep our wristbands/nor invite us back to their NYE even when we were checking out unlike our fellow guests at the new hotel). This entire experience was BEYOND infuriating and stressful and the Wyndham took no accountability, hardly offered any sort of help, and I will never be staying at a hotel that treats people so poorly. P.S Our actual room we stayed in on the 30th wasn't even that great- the ceiling fan was wobbling out of it's ceiling socket so we couldn't even use it.…
