#50 of 119 Speciality lodging in Tamarindo
On the beach in Tamarindo, in Costa Rica's Guanacaste province, Hotel Marielos offers its guests a relaxing, inexpensive, and beautiful way to experience the best of one of Costa Rica's most popular resorts. Cabinas are Costa Rica's version of the American Motel. They are usually small, family operated businesses with anywhere from two to fifty clean, basic rooms. Cabinas Marielos is owned and operated by Maria de los Angeles Molina Gonzalez, known as "Marielos", a native Tica (Costa Rican) and retired University Professor.

I spent a couple of nights. The price was 55 USD and for this price I get: NO breakfast, no air conditioning, no tv, no refri, quite poor wifi, no hot water, The bed room was however large (see the picture), the room had an outside patio to relax and could park the car inside. The service is quite sloppy. No value for money is my opinion and I would not come back. Please see the pictures

Great little place, right across the road from the beach, supermarket next door and all the action within 5 mins walk. The hotel is a good price and is a fantastic option for budget conscious travellers, it come with a kitchen which you can also cook your meals. Mths owner and staff are lovely, If your lucky you might even score a room upgrade with aircon. Thanks!

I spent my last night in Tamarindo here with my two best girlfriends after we had stayed in some questionable hostels. The property is set up with Cabins, all of which are brightly decorated with incredible motifs. Mariola, the owner, is a 72 year old, hard working sweetheart that treated us like guests in her home (offering Aloe Vera when she saw we were badly sunburned and offering her gardener to wait with us for a bus to arrive early in the morning). The property is magical, with a beautiful meditation garden, and outside showers to rinse off sand before getting into your Cabin. Absolutely the best location if you want to stumble on to the beach. Even though it was just one night, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and will absolutely be returning for my next stay in Tamarindo.

Cabinas Marielos touts themselves as a quiet garden setting, and if they weren't surrounded by a disco on one side and a recreation area on the other, this would be true. However, all my sister and I could hear was the pounding of the disco music all night. Further, the staff, though extremely friendly and helpful in other regards, failed to speak to rude guests who didn't understand the concept of keeping their voices down during sleeping hours(after 9 or 10pm), or not smoking in an area where it filtered straigjt into my non-smoking room. The accomodations were nice, and there is a shared kitchen to buy groceries in order to cook your meals, but if you enjoy your tranquility, this is not the place for you. We are in our 40's...so perhaps a younger crowd would be ok with it.

Paid $55 a night for two people. No hot water, not terrible in the heat, no AC and 14 happens to have one wall to the hotel behind it, which has lights on all night... The beds were standard, as well as the bathroom, clean enough with all the sand and about 50 mtrs from the beach. Onsite parking, onsite shared kitchen, which we didn't use, and onsite parking.
