We stayed for over a month in the apartment and it is extremely comfortable and convenient. There's a fully equipped kitchen (it really has everything), its really central yet quiet, there's a little private garden with couches and sunchairs and the internet is reliable and high-speed. But the best part? The bed. I think these beds were made in heaven because I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. The owner, Cecile, is awesome and helpful with everything we needed. I recommend this place to everyone!

I have visited this gem of a hotel 3 times. The first time I fell in love with it, the owner, Cecile was amazing, the hotel was beautiful, and the location was ideal. The second time I visited I was very upset to see there was a new owner (Cederic) at first I thought okay... this can't be so bad. boy oh boy was I wrong. Cederic was by far the rudest owner I have ever met. He had a way about him that was rude, demeaning, unhelpful, and just plainly horrible to be around. He ruined my experience at this hotel that I had originally created such amazing memories at. I swore I would never return, flash forward a few years and I was returning back to tamarindo. I have a few friends down there and I told them I was looking for a new hotel to stay at since I hated my experience with Cederic so much. They informed me Cecile owned the hotel again... I couldn't believe my ears. I was so happy that she was back, I gladly rebooked there am so glad I did. Cecile truly goes above and beyond at this hotel and does whatever she can to ensure a happy stay. While I was there most recently, there were some guests whose microwave stopped working, on christmas eve. Cecile was out celebrating with her friends and these guests got ahold of her to talk about the microwave. She returned to the hotel within 10 minutes with a new microwave for their room. She really cares about each one of her guests and the hotel she owns. While Cederic was owning the place he would've been lucky to receive a 1 star rating from me, but now that Cecile is back I happily give it 5 stars and recommend it to everyone I know visiting tamarindo. Super happy to see there's still hope for this amazing location!!

Hotel Mahayana is a great little spot with everything you could ask for! It's a small hotel with a few rooms centered around a plunge pool and shared kitchen / bar area. Each room has its own patio with a table, 2 chairs, and a hammock, as well as a minifridge, TV, safe, and private bathroom. The owner, Cecile, has truly thought of everything a guest could want and is a great source of local knowledge and good humour! The hotel itself is a short walk from the main road and beach access, and close to plenty of restaurants and a grocery store. Highly recommended! Thank you, Cecile, for the hospitality and hope to see you again soon!

We stayed for one week at hotel Mahayana. The rooms, the kitchen and the garden are very clean and beautiful. We had everything we needed for a good time. Also the owner is great. She helped us with all our problems and the tours she recommended were perfect. We had a few funny nights with her and the other guests. Very special were the monkey family, that visited the hotel every morning. So if you want to stay near to the main street and the ocean, but in a calm and familiar place, then this hotel is the best choice. Greets from Germany Giannina & Oliver
