Stayed 3 nights based on good TripAdvisor reviews. Not disappointed. Great little villas, well secluded. Delicious breakfast and friendly staff. Good value for Costa Rica. Samara is a very pleasant place to spend 3 days and this is the ideal base. Shame its not right by the ocean but the pool is decent.

We had very high hopes for our first trip to Costa Rica and our stay at Villas Kalimba and we definitely were not disappointed. Roberto and his family/staff were extremly friendly and made the experience very enjoyable. The villas are very spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen (we cooked most of our own lunches), 2 full bathrooms and 2 bedrooms with...

We loved Villas Kalimba and Playa Samara so much last year, that this year we returned with friends! We booked all 6 of Roberto's lovely villas............and, needless to say, we had a fantastic time!! 11 adults and 9 children found convenience in the proximity to the beach and the town, and found a haven upon each return to the oasis...

Overall we loved our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone. I advise staying here for a longer duration--we could only stay two nights, and thus missed out on any of Roberto's legendary barbecues. The rooms are really gorgeous and very spacious, with a very well-stocked kitchen, two(!) separate bathrooms and bedrooms, a huge deck, and enough privacy...

If you are visiting the coast of Costa Rica and want a fantastic gourmet dining experience, stay at Villas Kalimba in Samara. Owner Roberto produces magnificent dinners 3 to 4 times a week, at the open air dining area of the hotel. The sleeping rooms are air conditioned (which is a requirement in this hot climate) and the staff is...

Just returned from a fabulous trip to Costa Rica, where we finished our vacation relaxing on the beautiful beach at Playa Samara, staying 4 nights at Villas Kalimba. Our family of 4 (2 early teens & Mom/Dad) enjoyed everything about the place! The villas are roomy and beautifully decorated, equipped with everything you could need. Absolutely gorgeous grounds as well....

Our family (children ages 5 & 7) stayed at Villas Kalimba for Spring Break in April 2008 for six nights. It was truly an incredible experience for all of us. The villa was spacious, comfortable and clean. The pool was cleaned daily and the breakfasts were terrific! Fresh fruit, pancakes & eggs/bacon. Roberto's dinners were out of this world and...

My wife and I split our time between villa #7 and El Gauchito. While the Villa was great, we defintely think Gauchito is worth the extra money (which actually isn't much). The only negatives about Gauchito were that it is a further walk from the beach and that you have to walk back to the reception area to ask any...

We stayed in El Gauchito, a villa run by Villas Kalimba, as part of our honeymoon. It's a beautiful, custom house with tons of interesting details. The owner clearly takes a lot of pride in his property. The place was incredibly secure and included locked parking for our vehicle. El Gauchito is down the road from the beach and the...
