My third visit and excellent as always in spite of the terrible storm that knocked out power, water and communication for 4 days. Louis kept it together for guests. Amazing man and tortugas activist! You go Louis!
We spent a week in Las Tortugas Playa Grande as part of a 2 week trip to Costa Rica. This was our beach/surf part -- and it proved to be everything we hoped for. The owner (Louis) made us very welcome on arrival, and was...More
Great hotel, right on the beach. Easy walk to surfing, body surfing, just walking. Beautiful sunsets. Great food, super breakfasts (get the rice!) Try to get a bungalow, a bit nicer (cooler and quieter) than the hotel rooms.
This was the ultimate Costa Rican experience for us. Five glorious, sun-filled days at a peaceful, beautifully landscaped property by the water's edge. Friendly, attentive staff, an inviting poolside and hammocks galore. Some of the best seafood we've had this trip at the restaurant and...More

I am currently staying in playa grande and have been for 2 months. It's an awesome place with a wonderful community. If you haven't already found a place to stay I would strongly recommend the apartment I have. i cant post a link on trip advisor but if you google Megan's properties Costa Rica, you should be able to find a wordpress site. Contact Megan and ask her for francisco's place.
It is a small house with a basic kitchen and a pool within walking distance to the beach. I pay $550/month
As far as the turtles go, I'm pretty sure that it is $25/night. You may be able to find a local guide that will work with you but BE CAREFUL. There are a lot of people on the beach that know where the turtles are and will tell you they can take you, but they are not licensed and threaten the habitats. I haven't been myself as it's not the season right now, but I do know of a reputable/licensed local guide that can take you. If you are interested I can get his direct number for you today.
