The Las Tortugas Hotel is excellent value for money. We stayed with three kids aged 1, 4 and 7 in an appartment privately located on a hill with a small pool. As a guest you can use the large pool, the kids pool and the...More
Two of us stayed recently at Tortugas and LOVED the beach. If you are a surfer, this is your beach. Very family friendly hotel, lots of kids doing fun things. We paid for an upgraded room and were not impressed. Very small, no room for...More

As the website states, this is not a resort! I loved the location & it was my favorite beach in Costa Rica. The hotel staff was wonderful. Just lower your expectation of the accommodations. It worked for one night but my travel companions were a...More

I am currently staying in playa grande and have been for 2 months. It's an awesome place with a wonderful community. If you haven't already found a place to stay I would strongly recommend the apartment I have. i cant post a link on trip advisor but if you google Megan's properties Costa Rica, you should be able to find a wordpress site. Contact Megan and ask her for francisco's place.
It is a small house with a basic kitchen and a pool within walking distance to the beach. I pay $550/month
As far as the turtles go, I'm pretty sure that it is $25/night. You may be able to find a local guide that will work with you but BE CAREFUL. There are a lot of people on the beach that know where the turtles are and will tell you they can take you, but they are not licensed and threaten the habitats. I haven't been myself as it's not the season right now, but I do know of a reputable/licensed local guide that can take you. If you are interested I can get his direct number for you today.
