This hotel had the dual distinction of being the worst AND the most expensive of the five different hotels we stayed at in CR. Keep in mind that we went during the low season which means we do not know what it's like when it's busy. We paid $102 for the room which was astronomical when compared to the quality...

Don't go expecting the Waldorf. However, for the category of hotel that it falls into, it's a winner. The rooms are small but clean. It is only a 5-7 minute walk to the beach and the same into town. In addition, the staff was pleasant. They also have security on property after sunset.

My father and I stayed here for two nights while visiting Playas del Coco. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a security guard who checked us in. We arrived a little later in the evening, so the regular staff was not there. He didn't speak any English, but he showed us our room and was very pleasant and put up...

We were looking for a quiet place in Playas del Coco, and this place fit the bill. It's located maybe 5 minutes walk from the main road and you don't hear any sound from "downtown". The hotel is clean, the rooms large and our room had a fridge and AC. However, the rooms have no charm at all, so if...

Very nice clean place in 5 minutes walking distance from the main street. Big rooms, wifi, fridge, beautiful gardens, pool and a good "tico" breakfast is all one needs for a stay in Playas del Coco. We've been there for diving and really enjoyed the quietness of the place.

The room was so pretty, it had AC, nice sofa, super comfy bed and a nice restroom.. The owner and the staff are super friendly.. It has beautiful gardens, birds and squirrels are common seen. Good breakfast, only 5 minutes away from the main street and beach.. Nice pool area, perfect for relaxing and taking a break from the hot...

peaceful location, short walk from the beach and main street, excellent accommodation, beautiful gardens and pool area. Good breakfast. Reasonable price. Good place to stay before or after a flight as just 25 minutes to the airport.

We really enjoyed our stay at Puerta del Sol, a group of three friends sharing two rooms. The color scheme is very southwestern, blooming plants everywhere, rooms were clean, with culturally-appropriate decor but not kitschy. Poured concrete covered with cozy cushions made a couch, or a bed in one room, beds are comfortable, sheets fairly soft. The pool chairs have...

Not a Hilton, but we had air conditioning, a pool, comfortable rooms, a breakfast buffet, and a reasonable price. All within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, souvenier shops, etc. Very friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we're in the area.

We spent two nights at La Puerta del Sol - a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. The staff were very friendly and the property is well maintained within a nice garden setting. The hotel is conveniently located within ~5 minutes walking distance to the beach and town "center", and quiet enough to relax by the side of the pool. The...

“We stayed in the suite with a balcony, Room F. Would highly recommend it. It's a large room with a great balcony overlooking the pool.”

“Room F is a bit more expensive, but is much larger and upstairs. It has a huge walk in shower and a fridge.”

“Rooms are all the same (excl. the suite, of course). Rooms A-D face their back to the neighbor, with the accompanying, but not annoying, background sound. Rooms F-I face their back to a street, but there is not many cars on their, so it might be more quiet. Rooms A, D, F and I are at the building ends, with A and I on the outside of the L-shape. Room A is furthest away from the breakfast room (with far being a very short distance anyway) and Room I is closest. With all this said, due to the overall small size of the compound, there is probably not much difference produced by the position of the room.”
