Staff was nice. Everything else horrific. Issued one towel each at check in. Surrounded by fence/razor wire. No hot water. Toilet did not flush. Bugs. Big, gross stains on bedding. Ugh. Why does this place have such good reviews?
An older basic hotel. Friendly staff. Firm beds. Good Wifi. Decent typica breakfast. Just barely warm water. Mosquito infested room with more reinforcements called in after we killed about fifty. Very few restaurants within walking distance - mostly fried chicken places. Hard to believe that other travelers rated this five stars. This was amazing place to stay after a long day of travel from Colorado. Peaceful, funky and such amazing staff. Fabiola helped us feel right at home as did all of the staff. They answered our questions, guided us to the store and gas station. We will be sure to stay here again.
This is such a wonderful place. Quiet, away from the busy downtown and the Interamerican highway. The rooms are ample, with ac. A special feature is the trees which provide green shade and great ambiance to the patio and the walkways.
This hotel is so cute! Liberia is a quiet little area that's close to the coast and has activities like hiking and adventure parks close by as well. The hotel is well managed with a friendly staff that speaks Spanish and English. Our room was plenty big enough for 3 people with wifi, a TV, air conditioner, and a bathroom with a shower that had hot water! Overall it's a lovely place to stay if you're in the area. The breakfast was delicious too!
Clean, safe super friendly staff Laura . Very lovely breakfast, plenty of space in the room to relax. Only 20 minutes from the airport. Great value for what you get . I would come back for sure if I have to stay in Liberia 👌
We stayed at Hotel Javy the first night of our trip to Costa Rica two weeks ago. The staff was welcoming, and some spoke fluent English. Room very clean with good AC. A tropical storm came through during the night, but the staff took it all in stride. Delicious breakfast.
I stay here whilst backpacking through Costa Rica. It is located in the outskirts of Liberia. Excellent bilingual staff. The courtyard was well stocked with lots of plants and greenery. The room was great. Solid wooden furniture and clean surfaces. Breakfast was well cooked and prepared. I would definitely recommend.
This hotel is run by locals & is more Costa Rican than the larger more expensive hotels. Much like a hostel, rooms have more than one bed, are basic but with air-conditioning and a good shower. Rooms are cleaned every day. We enjoyed the location, a bit outside the city centre (walkable), in a residential area close to restaurants.
First the positive: the reception staff were excellent. Hotel Javy is in a Liberian neighborhood festooned with security barred businesses and homes. In addition most have barbed wire. Hotel Javy is surrounded by walls, barbed wire, and a gate. The property is showing its age. The beds were very uncomfortable and rock hard, and the pillows somehow seemed like half pillows. The towels were threadbare. Our showers were a tad over cold water. There was a phone mounted on the wall outside our room that rang often during the evening hours. The room is small; there were 2 desks but no hangers or dressers. We had booked two nights but canceled the second night. The WiFi didn't work for half of the time we were there. Breakfast was included and was typical Costa Rican fare. We only paid around $50/night...and got what we paid for.…
