Stayed at Canas Castilla in March, 2015 on our way from Costa Rica to Nicaragua (we are a family of 6...mom/dad and four kids ages 12, 11, 9 and 6). To be honest, we picked it simply based on location (a good place to stopover near the border) but we ended up THRILLED with the choice. Agi and Guido are...

This place is magical. You can paddle a little boat around the creek to view the crocodile on the rock. You can hike the hills and see hundreds of Spider Monkeys, Howler Monkeys and Sloths. Or you can take the trails horseback riding and enjoy the cool shade under the Guanacaste trees. There is a refreshing swimming hole nearby to...

Spent 2 nights here early March 2015. Easy to find thanks to very helpful instructions from our hostess, Agi Sutter. Situated in lush vegetation alongside a river (with its own "family" crocodile!), we had 2 adjacent houses, each with 2 bedrooms and a lovely terrace with a hammock and a rocking chair. Very quiet. Food (whatever the kitchen was preparing)...

I recently stayed at Canas Castilla and was not disappointed, the property is owned by Swiss couple Agi und Guido who are very nice people, Canas Castilla is basically a farm that Agi and Guido have built bungalows on, there are walks around the property that they have been marked out for degree of difficulty, a map of the walks...

What a unique and wonderful place to stay. Our bungalow was large, very clean, and quiet (except for the howler monkeys in the morning which is an amazing thing to wake up to!) I highly recommend the large and delicious breakfast and exploring the trails on the property. When we hiked along the river, we not only saw howler monkeys...

Wow, this was our stay before we headed to Nicaragua with a guide arranged by Canas Castilla. The owners are so welcoming and even dropped us off at the border to meet our guide. We loved the common area. Our cabin was clean, comfortable and located in the middle of the jungle - literally. I saw a baby hummingbird at...

This was our first intro to Costa Rica, staying at this lovely little lodge. The rooms, service and meals are hard to beat, we could not have made a better choice. There are trails on the property where you can see howler monkeys and it was really great to be surrounded by nature. The rooms are meticulous. The breakfasts and...

This is a must visit hotel, even if you are not bird watchers. The cabins are excellent, clean, comfortable and located alongside the river. The meals were good , especially pizza night with a selection of flavours coming until we just couldn't eat any more. The trails were not easy in November after the rains but enjoyable all the same.The...

My wife and I stayed here on two occasions during the Costa Rican 'dry season.' The cabins are super comfortable and can come with refrigeration and cooking gear, potentially saving money. The owner Agi is very, very nice, and a great naturalist- pointing out wildlife and giving good tips on where to visit in the area. The cooking, as others...

The Finca is situated right by a river and provides lots of opportunities to see all kinds of wildlife. The rooms provide space for up to four people each, are well maintained. Breakfast and the optional dinner are prepared by the owners themselves and are always excellent. There is a fixed meal for dinner, but special wishes will always be...
