I am going to have a hard time expressing in words just how amazing this place is. As a family run lodge, I felt right at home! Every staff member I met was warm and welcoming and treated me like I was an honored guest, which is so reassuring when you are a solo female traveler! The room was absolutely gorgeous (I stayed in a deluxe bungalow) the first thing I did was take pictures to send to my family to make them envious of my accommodation! Where each bungalow is placed makes you feel like you have the whole jungle to yourself! The sounds of the jungle will surround you! This was so beautiful to listen to that I recorded it on my phone to listen to once I returned back home to noisy NYC. Laying in one of the two hammocks on the balcony I watched as the sun set behind the trees and the sound of day time creatures faded into the sound of night time creatures. I felt so grounded and at peace. The table in the room was perfect for me to set up a little work station and the wifi was so strong and fast! The bathroom is an experience in itself! Somehow they built and indoor shower that makes you feel like you are showering outdoors with the use of stained one way glass that lets the sunshine in and screens above the glass to let the sounds of nature in! Never loved a bathroom design so much! The onsite restaurant with open air dining was perfect for dinner. I ordered their fish special which was made to order and the fish was caught right on the premises from their pond, how can you get any fresher than that!? Thanks for the great service Alejandro! I did not have a car with me during the trip but the Heliconias Nature Lodge accommodated me. The van driver, Oscar, picked me up from the airport and drove me to the lodge, and then drove me to every tour I booked myself on! I was even offered the opportunity to be driven into La Fortuna just so I could walk around the town which I took him up on the offer twice! All I had to do was shoot him a text and he would come and get me. This option made me feel so much safer and taken care of than if I had just ordered a cab or uber. Not to mention Oscar was a kind soul and I enjoyed talking to him very much! If you stay at the lodge I hope you have the pleasure of meeting him! In summation - STAY HERE. STOP LOOKING. STAY HERE.…
We stayed in a glass cabin, which was comfortable surrounded by plants for privacy. We had issues with hot water and bathroom lighting. The restaurant food was excellent, and the staff (mostly family of the owner) was wonderful.
I liked very much this hotel i think it offers a very high value offer to get to the costa rica nature..even thought we couldn´t get to the Children Eternal Rainforest (CER) Pocosol station due to the pandemic (is closed until further notice) we liked it very much the surronding forests, the food of the hotel and really good vibes of a family business.
Words cannot say enough how amazing this place is. I highly recommend staying here. Its quiet and beautiful. Great chance to be one with nature. Staff so helpful and friendly. We got to see so many birds and butterflies. One of the nicest places I have stayed in my travels. I will be back!!!
I stayed in a treehouse room. PROS - Easy to get to from main road. Easy parking - Accessible to SJO and LIB - Very close to nature (the best part of the resort). Observed and heard lots of birds from the hammock beneath my unit - Family-owned business - Friendly staff - Pretty grounds - Feels safe - Complientary beverages - Strong wifi CONS - No screens on windows - OK breakfast - Some side tables would be nice: next to bed, hammock, and/or chairs on the terrace - It's not really solid windows on three sides. The biggest window has thick horizontal stripes of dark film, probably to prevent birds from flying into it
