We drove from San Jose to Lost Iguana. It was a fun adventure as the roads are very curved, but we came to costa rica to see the natural beauty and for adventure, and that fit the bill for both. The hotel is outside of town, a rental car is needed if you wanted to leave often. We had a...

This is where you want to stay in La Fortuna if you want to really feel like you are visiting Costa Rica! Small Boutique Feeling - where you become a familiar face to the friendly staff and they become friends! The landscaping is beautiful / the layout of the hotel lends itselt to feeling like you are in the jungle...

We started off our Costa Rica trip driving right from San Juan to the Lost Iguana. While it is one of the most remote hotels in the area, it was well worth the drive! This resort is a beautiful paradise. It is a bit of a hike up to the rooms, but staff is available to drive you there in...

We recently spent four nights here at the resort. It was very serene and relaxing. It was remote, but that was one of the perks. The service was impeccable, the food was very delicious, the spa was wonderful. We really enjoyed sitting on our private balcony early in the morning, listening to the birds. We did have some really great...

Hi - we just got back from 4 nights at Lost Iguana. It was a nice resort but not great. The setting is very pretty in the jungle. However, it is also about 20 minutes past La Fortuna, which was quite a bit when you were traveling back and forth once or twice daily for excursions and dinners in the...

Took a private shuttle from San Juan, very long and windy drive, This place is very remote! We Stayed in room 35, great room with outdoor rock shower and jacuzzi and great view of the volcano in the morning, but it was usually covered by clouds. We were unaware until we got there that the volcano has been dormant for...

I am sorry that you were not happy with your stay. I do agree there were lots of improvements needed when you were there. We are now closing a building at a time and replacing roofs and old wood. Railings have been fixed and all the wood will be replaced this year with recycled materials that simulate wood, but will...

We drove in from Liberia for four nights here before hitting up Tamerindo for a few nights. I wish we would have done it the other way around because this is the sort of paradise you want to end a trip on. After our three hour drive from the airport (Great drive! DO NOT get a car service. The roads...

This place is completely hidden and private. It's great to come and relax. The employees are very friendly and attentive to serve you. Our five days were spectacular. The sound of the animals around us was refreshing. It was amazing to sleep around the beautiful nature with open doors. I highly recommend "Lost Iguana".

Room 9 was our base during three day stay in July. Great view of the volcano from the balcony that had two rocking chairs. Rooms have rustic decor, a/c, mini fridge, wifi, and fantastic shower. Rooms are a tough uphill walk from the reception and dinning area but staff will gladly drop you off in golf carts. Food was OK...

I give this an excellent rating for superior service, food, and accomodations and would absolutely recommend this to fellow solo travelers, families or other groups. Please note that the 5-dots on trip advisor doesn't mean it's a 5-star hotel. It's set into the jungle-like background that looks upon the Arenal volcano and rustic-chic, the sounds of the jungle are all...
