Rancho naturalista is a birder paradise and whilst we love nature and birds and animal in general we wondered if it would be a too specificly birder location. This was not the case. We loved the place as much as the more dedicated birders. Being with people who knew way more about birds proved a bonus and greatly added to...

Its good to know that with your love of nature and birds and animals in general, that you loved Rancho Naturalista as much as the more dedicated birders. Being with birders always helps our guests to learn more about birds and the wonderful pastime/hobby of birdwatching. Im pleased that you now notice birds much more than before you came and...

In December I savoured my third stay at Rancho Naturalista. Wow! It gets better every time. I'll ever forget coffee on the verandah with iridescent humming birds whirring around the feeders or oropendolas, chachalacas and toucans dropping in, almost within touching distance for breakfast. I love the new verandah with limitless tea and biscuits, as well as the comfy revamped...

6 days in December, a perfect escape from the Canadian winter and a wonderful destination for birders and nature lovers. Lisa, the owner, organized accommodation, drivers, trips and guides perfectly. The meals were excellent, and offered more than we would normally eat. Beds were fine, rooms were well stocked. Our guide, Harry, was excellent - knows his stuff, can find...

The Canadian "Snowbirds" escaping from the Canadian winter are among our favorite guests at Rancho Naturalista! As you noticed our guides are excellent - and can find birds in difficult dense forest. It really helps to use one when you are birding! The moth lights are a big attraction as many difficult to see birds are attracted to them in...

Rancho Naturalista was our first stop on a two-week tour of Costa Rica. Thanks to the excellent guides, we went from absolute rookies with neo-tropical birds to being able to identify many species on our own. We loved the hummingbird pools, natural pools in a creek on the property where the hummingbirds bathe. We also were shown to where the...

The accommodations are clean, spacious, and modern with very professional staff. The birding opportunities include a wide variety of tropical birds, hummingbirds and songbirds. Most of all, the food is prepared to gourmet standards, the best we had in Costa Rica. The tres leches cake was phenomenal.

We arrived in Costa Rica to be told that our trip to the Osa peninsular was cancelled due to storm damage. We were delighted that Lisa at Rancho Naturalista was able to extend our visit to 6 nights. The ambience created by Lisa and her team is exceptional in its friendliness and helpfulness. Moreover the food was tasty throughout (particular...

I'll admit I had read a lot about this place before I finally got around to booking a trip, but my expectations were blown away by how fantastic it really is. I've stayed at other lodges too, in Ecuador, Peru, and Costa Rica, but Rancho Naturalista really surpasses them all in comfort, in hospitality, and above all in the fantastic...
