I love this place! It’s so peaceful and tranquil. Room was a two story container unit. My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was delicious. Romero took us to the volcano and picked us up. He even provided us with a driver to take us down to Quepos at a very cheap rate. The driver was awesome as well.
The place is beautiful, you have great view of the valley and you’ll be at 10 min from the Poas volcano so the place is very convenient. You can also visit some waterfall and coffee tour near by. The staff is very cool and they will help you to book any activity you want to do. The room includes everything you need, typical Costa Rican breakfast is includes. You can also play with the two dogs, they are really nice and they love to play, especially Coco (the big white dog) You’ll enjoy the place for sure
We loved our stay at the Altura Hotel. The property is so beautiful and well maintained and there are common many areas to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The family that runs it was extremely welcoming and Ramiro even helped us book tickets for the volcano. The breakfast is amazing! Would definitely recommend staying here if you are in this area!
We stayed here for 2 nights as a family of 4 (children aged 16 and 14). The hotel is in a great location for visiting Volcan Poas and the beautiful surrounding area. The hotel is a really quirky and fun place to stay and the two brothers we met who run it are really nice guys who gave some great advice about where to visit. Highly recommend you stay here!
We chose to stay in “The Studio” which is basically a converted shipping container. It was a fun experience for a 1 night stay. The temperature inside was cold at night but each level had its own space heater and blankets to keep you warm. The bathroom was small but very nice. One issue with the Studio is that the WiFi signal was weak to non-existent. Honestly, the best part of the hotel is simply the entire piece of property. Everywhere you turned there were beautiful plants and animals including dogs, cats, chicken, donkeys and even a cow. The smell from the cow and an occasional mooing could be a problem for some, but we found it charming and part of the experience. On the property, there are multiple great spaces to relax both inside as well as outdoors. There is even an outdoor fire pit which is lit nightly. The breakfast is served in a charming dome building at the far side of the property and includes coffee/teas/juice as well as a fresh egg, homemade cheese, fresh fruit, rice and beans, toast, plantains and choices of cereal, if desired. It was disappointing to have additional fees added because we were a party of four but it was explained that the fees basically covers the cost of the breakfast for the additional people. This is the perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy some quiet time in nature. Would definitely stay here again!…
