Leaves and Lizards is an authentic Costa Rican experience! Cabins are beautiful and perched upon a hillside with sweeping views of Arenal Volcano. The staff is top-knotch and wil bend over backwards to make your stay perfect. The hosts, Deb and Steve, are warm and helpful and will visit with each guest during dinner to plan your next day's schedule....

Leaves and lizards is a sanctuary for those needing reparation of the soul. Although tricky to get to - a very bumpy selection of routes there do be sure to use a 4x4, the journey is worth it. Spacious cabinas well appointed with everything you would need for solitude among the hummingbirds, every room has an incredible view of Arenal...

If I was returning to the Arenal area I would stay in Leaves and Lizards again. It's in a beautiful setting. The cabin we stayed in, "Volcano", had a big porch with hammocks and an expansive view of the volcano and mountains. We loved spending our afternoons reading and relaxing out on the porch. The barn was a fun place...

6 months later we all agree our four nights there was a highlight of our three week stay in Costa Rica. Our 11 yr old son loved gathering eggs and helping with the milking each morning. Staff was heartwarming- genuine smiles always. Nice paths on the property for an evening or morning stroll. Steve and Debbie run a top notch...

Just planned this summer vacation and was talking to my 13 year old son. We were reminiscing about last year’s trip to Costa Rica and he exclaimed: “That was the best trip ever dad!” Memories were made here. We spent our first 4 nights of our Costa Rican adventure at the Hummingbird Hacienda at Leaves & Lizards. This house is...

I am the writer and Co-producer for a T.V. Pilot called the Bird Nerds that was shot on location in Costa Rica in August, 2011. Although I did not accompany the 9 person crew to the Leaves and Lizards Resort, I spoke to all involved before (finally) writing this review. The grounds were amazing and the food was spectacular (they...

Our stay was better than I expected (and that's with all the great reviews). -- Truly a lovely spot. I would say that L&L was one of the special parts of our entire trip ----- loved the stunning view from the Toucan cabin (which is now my screen-saver), loved the grounds, loved the food (and the stunning setting -- we...

It was beautiful, the staff was AMAZING, the room and facilities were clean and up to date, and of course the view was spectacular (especially when the clouds lifted). Interaction with the animals was fun, and horse back riding is a must. We saw more birds from our porch and at breakfast than anywhere else on our trip.

My husband and I spent 6 nights at this incredible place and cannot wait to return. After reading the glowing reviews, expectations were set very high... once we arrived, the reality surpassed all expectations. There is something about this place that cannot really be described in words... it is something that you feel once you are there. You are immersed...

We just got back and had an incredible experience! Just go here and allow it to happen. This is the kind of place that is so genuine that you just fall in love over a few short days. The owners and staff are all committed to making your experience incredible and it shows. If you are used to phony, patronizing...
