This quaint little hotel is perfect for exploring the La Fortuna area. We stayed two nights while exploring and doing tours. Kembly the manager is super friendly and has tons of information about what to do in the area. The hotel has two pools, very clean and amazing views of the Volcano. The cabins are clean, conformable and have beautiful views of the lush tropical gardens and the Arenal Volcano. It is situated 9km outside of La Fortuna but close by is a little supermarket to stock up on things and the rooms have a small fridge! Breakfasts are delicious and served with a fruit plate! We had great fun and really enjoyed the stay!
The location of the hotel near the volcano is incredible. The room itself was decent, but the wi-fi (very important for a 14-year-old) was only in the lounge area. The breakfast was delicious. The tours were arranged smoothly by the staff. The pools seemed inviting (though we didn't use them). The layout and decorations were pretty.
The hotel is just 5 minutes away from the city center of La Fortuna. The rooms are big and really quiet. You can hear the birds and crickets. Also the view from our room was amazing. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. I could really recommend this hotel!
Quaint place close to all major attractions in La Fortuna. Perfect getaway hotel with nice view of the volcano from the garden. The staff is nice and super friendly and the breakfast is really good. The grounds are very nice and well maintained. Very nice place to stay. We had such a good time at Lavas Tacotal. I can recommend this place if you are looking for a comfy place to rest after a long day of activities. Good value hotel.
Stayed here 31st Dec 2019 - 3rd Jan 2020. I paid about £90 a night at the very last minute. I knew when I booked that it was a rustic/budget hotel - you only have to compare the prices in the area to work that out...! The first room I checked into (20) wasn’t to my liking (bit musty but worse than that on night 1 I was woken at 2am by two blokes talking v loudly... this went on until 4.30am ...some people have zero respect). I asked to move the next morning and the lovely lady on reception moved me to Bungalow 32 which I loved. Here’s a few points to note: - it does serve Bkfst but other than that it does not have a Bar or Restaurant - there is a decent Restaurant next door (Dona Flor), the churrasco steak with jalapeno sauce is amazing. It closes early circa 8pm. There is another restaurant opposite but I didn’t try it - there is a mini-mart 5 mins walk away BUT it is down the main road and the road has no street lights and is pitch black - the hotel has WIFI... sometimes, and only in reception. Don’t stay here if u use WIFI a lot - the first room had no fridge, the Bungalow did. The rooms do not have safety deposit boxes - La Fortuna town is fun, but its €10 each way in a taxi (15 mins) I’d definitely stay here again, the staff were lovely. But have realistic expectations for what you pay (I heard a lady complaining..) - its cheap, rustic and budget. If you want a luxury experience in La Fortuna times your nightly Budget by 4 or 5…
