Like all hotel photos, Hotel Villas Vilma is not what it appears. So you might be a bit disappointed when you see a row of garishly coloured villas as you enter right off the main road. But no reason to be worried. Large, spacious room. Lovely swimming pool and small hot tub. HVV is on the rapidly expanding 'strip' to...

We stayed here last year at Christmas. By the time we booked, there was not much left in terms of choices in La Fortuna for that week. This was available, and we stayed in 2 rooms for 5 of us in our family (3 teenage boys who like to have their own beds). Very reasonable price for the time of...

6 of us stayed 4 nights in their largest unit designed for 5 people. We were able to add the additional person for an additional $10 per night. For this we were given an old mattress to put on the floor. Initially we had 2 rooms reserved and the evening desk worker went above and beyond and cancelled one for...

This was the most disappointing hotel of our holiday. The little cabins look quite sweet but as soon as you walk in it's like going back in time with maroon bathroom suites and bedding I haven't seen since the 1970s! The beds were small but comfortable. The bathroom had broken panes on the slatted glass window. Nowhere to put anything...

Villa Vilma is a series of cabins divided into two spacious rooms, each with a private porch. The porches look out onto the property and the Arenal volcano, as opposed to the parking street which is a nice touch. There is seating on the porch and it makes the place feel somewhat like a resort. The pool area is outstanding...

I really liked this hotel, not so much for the room size, decor or other amenities, which were perfectly adequate, especially for the price, but the absolutely lovely grounds, including a great pool area, and lots of open space around the Cabinas. I spent most of my stay outside on the covered patio, watching an amazing variety of birds enjoying...

I stayed in this place because of the good reviews but is not like it. The rooms are decent, terrible pillows. It had good A/C. The bathroom was not the cleanest...and that is terrible when staying at a hotel. Forniture was oldish and fridge was missing parts. The cars passing by the street could be clearly heard while sleeping. The...

This place has an enormous potential, the property is beautiful and it's close to the centre of La Fortuna - but not really walking distance. The staff wasn't welcoming at all. We were induced to pay in cash because paying with card would cost around $10 more than what was announced on the website used to book it, which is...

Well, looking at the pictures, this one a hotel I was really looking forward to. But unfortunately it turned out to be a bit of a let down. Rooms are spacious, but not very clean. Sheets had lots of hair on them, because they use all synthetic sheets. The view was not of the gorgeous volcano, but of the ugly...

I loved the setting for the hotel...the room was nicely setup and the gardens on the property were beautiful. Initially everything seemed great, the owner was very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately there was an issue with hot water...one out of four showers was warm...the rest cold...Also we were there 3 days and the towels were never changed. When I mentioned...
