This is a fabulous place to stay in Arenal. With views of the lake and the volcano, hiking and walking trails, an abundance of birds, reptiles, and mammals, gardens, two hanging bridges, you can stay right on the property and see a lot. The deck outside the dining room features a bird feeder that attracts dozens of birds. The gardens...

the lodge is inside the Arenal Park, in the forest; we had a large room in the smithsonian parts with a deck and a vocano view; in front of the deck, the garden is full of birds ( hummingbirds, toucans, tanagers, manakin, woodpeckers, toucanet, Oropendola, guans ) and animals monkeys and coatis.. the trails start in the hotel garden so...

We stayed at the Arenal Observatory Lodge for 6 nights with our two young children. The rooms are large and clean with a little kitchenette and doors opening out into the garden with views of the volcano. We absolutely loved the lodge, the gardens were perfect for exploring and we were visited by coati and hummingbirds, montezuma birds and toucan....

If you are visiting the Arenal volcano and area, the Observatory Lodge is fabulous. A beautiful Lodge with acres of land and trails you can wonder on your own. Every morning a guide takes guests on a 2.5 hour guided walk around the property. This is free. Christian was our guide and we loved his passion, his eye for spotting...

The lodge is a comfortable fairly luxurious place to stay inside here in Arenal national Park. The room we stayed in had a lovely patio with a row of Jamaican verbena right outside where we could watch hummingbirds in the morning and the evening. Outside the restaurant area they had platforms for they put fruit out and this was frequented...

My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Observatory. Wow! The overall property seems huge with walking paths everywhere. The observation deck is like a small United Nations with people from all over the world watching birds, viewing down onto Lake Arenal and then straight up at the Arenal volcano. Every 5 minutes the sun and the clouds changes...

The observatory lodge is a nature lovers dream. I stayed in a Smithsonian room and had perfect views of the volcanoe each day from bed. The nature trails are beautiful and you can spot wildlife all over the property. The only issue I had was how secluded the property was. To get into La Fortuna was a long drive. Because...

Hello Symone, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback about your stay. We are glad you were able to enjoy the nature of our property and the views of the volcano. Unfortunately, secludedness is one drawback of our location within the boundary of the Arenal Volcano National Park. We completely understand your sentiments of how the...

Stayed here for 4 nights and in our opinion we chose right ! We were away from the main reception / rooms area in a block of 4/5 Smithsonian rooms. (I think we were room 11). This accommodation is an almost level walk to the main amenities but if it should be raining a quick telephone call to reception and...

Staff in reception and in restaurant were very friendly, helpful and spoke very good English. Our rooms were comfortable with a good fan, but no a/c which we did not really need anyway. Particularly at night it got quite chilly. Good Wi-Fi throughout the complex, plus a free Safe, but no TV. The hotel also offered a laundry service. We...

This is a very beautiful lodge amidst the rainforest. The lush grounds around the lodge are loaded with flowers, birds and natural beauty. There was a lot of nice hiking around the lodge and a nice museum and pool.
